Precise pipeline routing in sanitary and industrial installations

The Geberit Mapress Edelstahl elbow with a 45° angle and nominal diameter DN 12 (d=15 mm) is a press-fit system component that enables precise pipeline routing in locations where a change in route direction is required while maintaining a small angle of deviation. A compact total length of 28 mm and a working length of 8 mm make the elbow suitable for tight installation spaces—typical for manifolds, water meter boxes, or heating substations.

The Mapress Edelstahl system relies on connections becoming leak-proof only after pressing with M-profile crimping jaws. Until correctly pressed, the connection remains non-leak-proof—this is a deliberate solution that allows for the detection of deficiencies during a pressure test before the installation is commissioned.

Material and corrosion resistance

The elbow body is made of chrome-nickel-molybdenum steel 1.4401 (AISI 316) in accordance with the DIN EN 10088 standard—a grade widely used in drinking water installations and in industrial environments with an increased risk of corrosion. The high molybdenum content increases resistance to chlorides present in both hard water and certain industrial wastewaters.

The threaded elements of the factory-supplied Mapress fittings are made of 1.4571 (AISI 316L) steel, which further increases resistance to intergranular corrosion caused by heat treatment during welding—although the Mapress system itself does not require welding or brazing.

Sealing and operating characteristics

The connections are equipped with a black CIIR butyl rubber seal, factory-installed in the press socket. The socket is additionally protected by a transparent protective cap that shields the seal from contamination during transport and storage.

The elbow operates at a maximum pressure of 16 bar at temperatures up to 120°C for heating water and saturated steam—covering most typical applications in residential, public utility, and industrial buildings.

Scope of applications

The Geberit Mapress Edelstahl system is dedicated to a wide spectrum of media:

• Drinking water - cold and hot domestic water installations according to DIN 1988,
• Heating agents - heating water with and without anti-freeze agents,
• District heating - ≤120°C,
• Saturated steam - up to 120°C at a max. pressure of 4.5 bar,
• Process and treated water,
• Rainwater as well as grey and black water - at pH >6.0,
• Fire protection installations - wet and dry sprinklers,
• Compressed air - oil cleanliness class 0-3,
• Inert and industrial gases - acetylene, shielding gases for welding,
• Chemicals and technical fluids.

The system finds application in domestic installations as well as in industry and shipbuilding—where high connection durability is required without the need for welding or hard brazing.

The elbow is supplied as a single component with a factory-installed CIIR seal and a transparent protective cap on the press socket.
