Precision elbow for pressure installations

The Geberit Mapress elbow with a 45° angle and 54 mm diameter is a component of a stainless steel piping system, designed to create gentle changes in flow direction in sanitary, gas, and industrial installations. Two press sleeves (so-called press sleeves) with an M profile enable rapid installation using the pressing method - the tightness of the connection is only achieved after performing the crimp with the press jaws. The working length of each connection is 27 mm, and the total length of the elbow is 62 mm per side.

Material and corrosion resistance

The body is made of chrome-nickel-molybdenum steel 1.4401 (AISI 316) - a grade widely used in installations exposed to moisture, aggressive media, and variable atmospheric conditions. The molybdenum content increases resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion compared to standard 304 stainless steel. The connection wall thickness is 1.5 mm, which, at a working pressure of 16 bar (at 20°C), provides a solid safety margin.

Seals made of CIIR (chlorobutadiene rubber) guarantee tightness in standard media - drinking water, natural gas, and many industrial substances. The connection surface remains in a raw state, without an additional protective coating - typical for Mapress Edelstahl systems, where the steel is protected by the working medium itself.

Applications and system compatibility

The DN50 elbow with an outer diameter of 54 mm works with Geberit Mapress Edelstahl pipes of the same nominal diameter. The system is used in:

• water supply installations (cold and hot domestic water),
• central heating networks,
• gas installations,
• industrial and marine facilities.

The manufacturer specifies the material as having high tensile strength, which translates to resistance against installation deformations and pressure surges.

Technical characteristics of the connection

The press sleeve with a transparent protective plug is a characteristic feature of the entire Mapress line - the plug protects the seal from contamination during transport and storage on the construction site. An important systemic property: the connection remains unsealed without pressing, which eliminates the risk of accidentally commissioning the installation before all crimps are completed.
