Precision fittings for demanding installations
The Geberit Mapress Edelstahl 90° elbow is a fundamental component for constructing sanitary, heating, and gas installations. Made of chrome-nickel-molybdenum steel 1.4401 (AISI 316), it features enhanced corrosion resistance—ideal for applications where standard steel would fail, such as drinking water installations, industry, and shipbuilding.
The 15 mm (DN 12) diameter with press couplings is compatible with Mapress Edelstahl system pipes with a wall thickness of 1 mm. Both connections have a length of 49 mm (working part 29 mm), ensuring a stable insertion and secure grip even with minor installation clearances. The maximum working pressure at 20°C is 16 bar—easily handling typical domestic and industrial installations.
Material and sealing
Steel CrNiMo 1.4401 according to DIN EN 10088 is an austenitic grade with high molybdenum content (2-3%), which significantly improves resistance to chlorides and pitting corrosion. Compared to the cheaper AISI 304, this material better withstands contact with hard water, brine, or aggressive industrial media.
The seals are made of CIIR (chlorobutadiene rubber)—black rings resistant to aging, hot water, and most chemicals encountered in installations. The product is factory-sealed with a transparent protective cap seated in the press couplings—this protects the seals from contamination during transport and storage on the construction site.
Press system and safety
A characteristic feature of the entire Mapress line is the "unverpresst undicht" principle—the connection remains leaky until it is pressed. This solution forces the installer to perform a correct connection; a leak immediately reveals deficiencies. The press indicator visible on the coupling provides a visual confirmation of whether the pressing has been completed.
To perform the connection, a press with M profile jaws is required—the same profile applies to both ends of the elbow. The Geberit Mapress Edelstahl system is certified for use with drinking water, central heating, and gas installations, confirming its versatility and reliability across various industries.
Dimensions and fit
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Bend angle | 90° |
| Outer diameter | 15 mm |
| DN Nomenclature | DN 12 |
| Total length | ~65 mm |
| Z dimension (offset) | ~29 mm |
| Wall thickness | 1 mm |
The weight of the elbow itself is only 58 g, so it does not excessively load the mounting points. For comparison, the full range of Geberit Mapress elbows also includes angles of 60°, 45°, 30°, and 15°, as well as single-branch versions for situations requiring the connection of a straight pipe at an angle different from the supply pipe.
Installation requires standard Geberit pressing tools; there is no need for specialized equipment or preheating components before assembly—the entire process is performed cold, eliminating the risk of material deformation.
