Stainless steel elbow for pressure systems

The Geberit Mapress elbow with a 90° angle and nominal diameter DN 20 (22 mm) is a fitting designed to create changes in direction in piping installations made using press connection technology. It is made of CrNiMo stainless steel grade 1.4401 (DIN EN 10088), which corresponds to the European stainless steel 316 class. The wall thickness at both ends is 1.2 mm, and the working length of each connection is 40 mm - dimensions selected to ensure stable seating in press couplings and comfortable installation even in confined spaces.

Construction and connection technology

Both ends of the elbow consist of press couplings with an M-profile - compatible with the Geberit Mapress system crimping jaws. The connection surfaces remain in a raw (unprocessed) state, which is the standard solution for this type of fitting - this eliminates the risk of coating damage before crimping and ensures a clean contact surface for the seal.

The elbow is equipped with a black CIIR seal factory-fitted in the coupling. The CIIR material (chlorobutadiene rubber) withstands contact with drinking water and most media used in heating and industrial installations well. Additionally, the coupling features a transparent protective cap, which protects the seal and the interior of the fitting from contamination during transport and storage before installation.

An important structural element is the press indicator - a small protrusion or gap visible on the coupling before the connection is made. It clearly informs whether the crimp has been performed correctly. For Mapress elbows, the principle of "unverpresst undicht" applies - meaning leakage before crimping. This means that a press connection that is incorrectly or not at all performed remains leaky, which eliminates the risk of a hidden installation error.

The maximum working pressure at a temperature of 20°C is 16 bar, allowing the elbow to be used in both domestic and industrial or marine installations.
