Plain elbow for press-fit installation
The plain elbow from the Geberit Mapress Edelstahl system is a component designed for creating bypasses around obstacles in installations performed using the press-fit technique. The 90° bend allows for a change in the pipeline direction where it is necessary to avoid other installations or structural elements.
Material and construction
The component is made of 316 grade stainless steel (1.4401) - a chromium-nickel-molybdenum alloy that features enhanced corrosion resistance compared to standard austenitic steel. This choice of material makes the elbow suitable for both potable water installations and heating or industrial systems.
Wall thicknesses of 1.2 mm ensure high mechanical strength. Both ends feature press fittings with an M clamping profile - they are adapted for press-fit connection using M-type jaws. The working length of one connection is 155 mm, and the other is 79 mm, providing flexibility when fitting to existing installation sections.
Operating parameters and application
The maximum working pressure at a temperature of 20°C reaches 16 bar, allowing the elbow to be used in typical domestic and commercial installations - in both vertical and horizontal sections of the network.
The Geberit Mapress system is based on press connections, which are carried out without welding or soft soldering. Simply insert the pipe into the socket and then perform the pressing - a leak-proof connection is formed in seconds. The absence of hot work is a significant advantage during modernizations in occupied buildings and where welding is difficult or impossible.
The elbow is dedicated to pipelines with an outer diameter of 28 mm (DN 25) and is a component of the Geberit Mapress pipe system intended for:
- potable water,
- central heating installations,
- gas networks,
- sprinkler systems.
High tensile strength confirms the component's ability to withstand mechanical stresses at points of flow direction change - particularly important for long straight sections where thermal expansion compensation generates axial forces.
Installation and compatibility
The plain elbow is installed as a bypass element - it allows for shifting the pipeline axis around an obstacle without the need to cut and re-thread the lines. The dimensions of both ends allow for direct connection to Geberit Mapress system pipes of the same diameter.
The surface of the component remains in a raw state - without an additional protective coating. 316 stainless steel does not require painting or galvanizing; its corrosion resistance results from its alloy composition. In the case of visible installation sections, however, a decorative coating can be applied according to the interior designer's preference or the facility's requirements.
The press connection does not require specialized welding skills - the installer only needs a press tool with the appropriate M jaw profile and a pipe cutter. This significantly reduces labor costs and shortens installation time compared to traditional steel joining methods.
