Precise pipe connections in sanitary and heating installations

The Geberit Mapress stainless steel reducer is used for a smooth transition between pipes of different diameters - from 22 mm to 15 mm. It is made of CrNiMo stainless steel according to the DIN EN 10088 standard (grade 1.4401 / AISI 316), ensuring corrosion resistance in demanding operating conditions. Thanks to its high tensile strength, the component maintains a working pressure of up to 16 bar at a temperature of 20°C, allowing it to be used in both drinking water installations and heating systems.

Design and connection system

The element is equipped with two types of connections with different characteristics:

On the larger side (DN20), there is a press connection with an M profile - a standard type for crimping with Geberit Mapress jaws. The total length of this connection is 25 mm, with a working part of 20 mm and a wall thickness of 1,2 mm. The outer diameter of the pipe is, of course, 22 mm.

The reduced side is an insertion end (DN12) with a total length of 34 mm and a working part of 20 mm, with a wall thickness of 1 mm. This design allows a smaller diameter pipe to be inserted directly into the reducer body - useful when adapting existing installations or expanding the system.

The total length of the element is 59 mm, straight shape. Inside, a black seal made of CIIR (chloroprene rubber) is seated, which is resistant to drinking water and the temperature of the medium transported in heating installations.

Sealing and signaling system during assembly

One of the key features of the product is the "unverpresst undicht" function - meaning leakage signaling before crimping. Until the connection is correctly crimped with the jaws, the element remains unsealed. This eliminates the risk of assembly errors and allows for the detection of a missing crimp even before the installation is commissioned.

The manufacturer has equipped the press connection with a transparent protective cap, which protects the inside of the socket from contamination during transport and storage. A built-in pressing indicator facilitates the control of the correctness of the completed connection.

Applications and compatibility

The Geberit Mapress reducer is effective in three main areas:

• Building services - drinking water and central heating installations in residential and public utility buildings,
• Industry - technological installations requiring corrosion-resistant steel fittings,
• Shipbuilding - specific marine conditions, where 316 stainless steel performs better than standard grades.

To correctly perform the connection, crimping jaws with an M profile are required - compatible with the entire range of Geberit Mapress tools. The product is supplied as a Geberit brand system component, which guarantees full interoperability with pipes and fittings from the same line.
