Mapress press technology in stainless steel
The Geberit Mapress Edelstahl reducer is used for a smooth transition between pipes of different diameters - from 35 mm to 22 mm. The product utilizes proven Mapress press technology, which allows for fast and secure installation without the need for welding or threading.
The connection on the larger diameter side is a press coupling with an M-profile - it is compatible with standard Geberit Mapress system press jaws. The smaller side is an insertion end, which is inserted into the target pipe before pressing the fitting.
The material is stainless steel CrNiMo 1.4401 (equivalent to AISI 316), resistant to corrosion and external factors. The built-in seal is made of CIIR - a synthetic butadiene-isoprene rubber, which maintains tightness in water supply and heating installations.
The manufacturer specifies the maximum working pressure at 20°C at 16 bar, allowing for use in typical domestic and industrial installations.
Mapress system control elements
The Mapress system is equipped with a range of solutions supporting installation correctness:
- Incomplete press indicator - if the connection has not been correctly pressed, it remains leaky. This is intentional behavior: the installer immediately sees that something went wrong.
- Transparent protective cap - protects the press coupling from contamination (e.g., dust, shavings) before the actual pressing.
- Capped design - the holes are factory-closed, so the element does not require additional sealing before commissioning the installation.
Thanks to these solutions, the risk of installation error is significantly lower than with traditional methods.
Surface finish and operating conditions
Both ends of the reducer have a raw finish - without additional protective coating or polishing. Such processing is standard for Mapress system elements intended for pressing, as it ensures a clean contact surface and good penetration of the press jaws.
316 stainless steel performs better in harsher conditions than standard 304 grade steel - the higher molybdenum content improves resistance to chlorides present, for example, in seawater or brines. Thanks to its high tensile strength, the element maintains mechanical loads typical for concealed and surface-mounted installations without deformation.
The reducer with a total length of 71 mm fits into limited installation spaces - the working length of both connections is approximately 21 mm, providing secure anchoring in the pipes even with shallower insertion.
Areas of application
The product is dedicated to installations:
- Water supply - transition between risers and connections to fixtures,
- Heating - connection of manifolds or smaller circuit branches,
- Cooling - transferring cooling medium in industrial installations,
- Industrial and marine - 316 steel also performs well in industrial and marine construction, where corrosion resistance in chloride-containing environments is required.
