Professional pipe connection of different diameters
Connecting pipes with significantly different diameters is a common problem in sanitary, heating, and industrial installations. This reducer allows smooth connection of a 42 mm pipe with a smaller 15 mm pipe - without the need for additional adapters or threaded fittings. The reduction model works well in both potable water installations and central heating systems or industrial pipe networks.
The Geberit Mapress system is based on press-fit connections - one is a press coupling with M profile (compatible with press jaws of the same profile), the other is a push-in end. This solution eliminates the need for welding or threading on the construction site, which significantly speeds up installation and reduces the risk of execution errors.
Materials and connection durability
The body is made of stainless steel 316 (1.4401) - a chromium-nickel-molybdenum grade that stands out for its increased corrosion resistance compared to standard steel 304. This makes the element suitable for installations exposed to moisture, variable temperatures, or contact with aggressive media.
The coupling walls are 1.5 mm thick, the push-in end is 1 mm - these are sufficient parameters for working pressure up to 16 bar at 20°C. The manufacturer specifies the material as high tensile strength, which translates into leak-tightness and durability of the connection for decades of operation.
The gasket is made of CIIR (chlorobutadiene rubber) - an elastomer resistant to aging, hot water, and technical lubricants. The surfaces of both ends remain in raw state, without additional protective coating - typical for professional installation systems from this manufacturer.
Dimensions and fitting to the installation
The total length of the element is 81 mm, with the press part measuring 35.5 mm and the push-in part 45.5 mm. The nominal diameter of the press connection is DN 40, the push-in connection is DN 12. The bend angle is 0°, meaning the reducer is completely straight - it does not change the direction of medium flow.
The flow cross-section decreases gradually from the full diameter to the smaller push-in end, which minimizes flow turbulence compared to abrupt diameter changes. The element is factory-capped (which protects against contamination during transport and storage), has no air vent or drain valve - this is a purely reduction connecting element without service functions.
The reducer belongs to the Geberit Mapress Edelstahl pipe system designed for professional installers working on sanitary, heating, and industrial projects.
