Stainless steel reducer for water and gas installations

The Geberit Mapress Edelstahl reducer with dimensions 42×22 mm is a reduction element made of CrNiMo 1.4401 (316) stainless steel, designed for connections between pipes of different diameters in professional sanitary and industrial installations. The product, with catalog number 32316, is equipped with a press socket on the larger side (42 mm, DN40) and a slip-on end on the smaller side (22 mm, DN20), allowing for flexible pipeline routing without the need for additional adapters.

Construction and materials

The reducer body is made of high-grade 316 stainless steel, which contains molybdenum to improve resistance to hydrogen and chlorine corrosion. The wall thickness at the socket connection is 1.5 mm, while at the push-on end it is 1.2 mm - this selection of parameters ensures mechanical strength while maintaining the optimal total mass of the element.

The total length of the reducer is 82 mm, with a working length of 21 mm for both connections. The socket is equipped with a transparent protective cap that serves as a shield against contamination during transport and installation - this eliminates the need for additional protection of the bell end against dust or moisture on the construction site.

The seal made of CIIR (chlorobutadiene rubber) guarantees connection tightness across a wide range of operating temperatures and pressures.

Scope of applications

The Geberit Mapress reducer is suitable for both commercial and industrial installations - it handles cold and hot potable water, heating water, and chilled water (including with antifreeze). The element is adapted for use with central heating networks up to 120°C and saturated steam up to the same limit temperature.

In addition to water media, the product is used in compressed air installations of oil cleanliness class 0-3, vacuum, inert gases (nitrogen), and industrial gases - acetylene and shielding gases for welding. The reducer is also suitable for transporting treated water, rainwater with a minimum pH of 6.0, and grey and black wastewater with an appropriate pH.

The maximum operating pressure at 20°C is 16 bar, allowing the element to be used in typical residential installations and light industrial installations.

The press socket of this model belongs to the M jaw profile system, which means compatibility with widely used pressing tools from this manufacturer - the installer does not need to possess specialized equipment dedicated exclusively to Geberit.

An important design solution is the press indicator - a visual indicator informing of a correctly executed connection. Additionally, the product only becomes leak-proof after the pressing process is completed; before this stage, the connection is open (unverpresst undicht), which eliminates the risk of accidentally starting the installation without the fastening being performed. This feature significantly increases work safety during the installation stage - any potential leak will be detected immediately, even before the pressure test of the entire section.

The product is delivered factory-fitted with seals installed in the bell - this eliminates the risk of omitting them during installation or damaging them when fitting them manually.
