Geberit Mapress stainless steel reducer with socket end: d=42mm, d1=28mm 32317

Professional reduction connection for sanitary and industrial installations

The Geberit Mapress Edelstahl reducer with an insertion end enables a smooth transition between pipes of different diameters in stainless steel systems. The element reduces the diameter from 42 mm (DN 40) to 28 mm (DN 25), allowing for the construction of installations requiring a change in pipe cross-section - a typical application in manifolds, risers, or installation branches.

The product belongs to the Geberit Mapress system, which is based on press connection technology - pipes and fittings are connected using pressing sleeves without the need for welding or soldering. This significantly accelerates assembly work and eliminates the risk of welding errors.

Construction and press connection technology

The reducer is made of CrNiMo 1.4401 stainless steel (equivalent to AISI 316), ensuring corrosion resistance in drinking water installations and industrial environments. The wall thickness on the larger side is 1.5 mm, and on the smaller side 1.2 mm - both values are consistent with the M profile of the crimping jaws used throughout the Mapress system.

The connection on the socket side utilizes the standard M profile for press jaws - the installer uses the same jaw as for other system elements. The insertion end side allows the pipe to be inserted without additional tools and maintains tightness thanks to the built-in CIIR seal.

An important structural element is the press indicator - a characteristic feature of the Geberit Mapress system that indicates whether the connection has been performed correctly. Until the crimp is executed, the connection remains unsealed, which eliminates the risk of hiding installation deficiencies before the first startup of the installation.

The maximum working pressure at a temperature of 20°C is 16 bar, which covers the requirements of most central heating, cooling, and drinking water installations in residential buildings and industrial facilities.

Scope of application and media compatibility

The Geberit Mapress Edelstahl system is adapted for work with a wide spectrum of media - from drinking water to technical gases and chemicals:

  • Drinking water - cold and hot
  • Cooling and heating water - both without and with the addition of anti-freeze agents
  • District heating water up to 120°C
  • Saturated steam up to 120°C
  • Industrial and process waters, as well as treated waters
  • Rainwater, greywater, and blackwater with pH >6.0
  • Firefighting water (wet) and sprinkler systems
  • Compressed air with oil cleanliness class 0-3
  • Vacuum as well as inert gases (e.g., nitrogen) and industrial gases (e.g., acetylene, shielding gases for welding)

Because of this, the reducer is suitable for both typical HVAC and sanitary installations, as well as industrial and marine applications - the manufacturer declares its use in both installations and industry and shipbuilding.

Installation and use

The element is delivered with a transparent protective ring covering the press socket to prevent contamination before installation - simply remove the ring immediately before performing the crimp.

Preparing the connection involves inserting the pipe into the insertion end to the insertion depth specified by the system manufacturer and sliding the press sleeve onto the socket. The crimp is performed with M profile jaws - the same tools serve the entire range of Mapress Edelstahl fittings.

The weight of the element is approximately 104 g, and the total length is 83 mm. Compact dimensions facilitate piping even in limited installation spaces.

When designing installations, the operating conditions of individual media must be taken into account - e.g., the temperature for district heating water or saturated steam cannot exceed 120°C, and the working pressure must remain below 16 bar at the medium's ambient temperature.
