Reduction for sanitary and heating installations
The Geberit Mapress Edelstahl reducer with dimensions 42 × 35 mm is a connecting element made of CrNiMo 1.4401 stainless steel (compliant with DIN EN 10088), designed for diameter reduction in professional piping installations. The reduction model is equipped on one side with a press fitting with an M profile and an outer diameter of 42 mm (DN40), and on the other side with a compression end with an outer diameter of 35 mm (DN32). The wall thickness of both connections is 1.5 mm, ensuring adequate stiffness and resistance to mechanical loads.
Material and sealing
316 (1.4401) grade stainless steel is characterized by increased corrosion resistance compared to standard austenitic steels - it contains molybdenum, which increases resistance to chlorides and aggressive aqueous environments. This is particularly important in industrial and marine installations.
The seal is a black chloroprene rubber (CIIR) ring, factory-mounted in the press fitting. This material withstands contact with drinking water and heat carriers used in heating installations well.
Applications and compatibility
The reduction belongs to the Geberit Mapress system, which means full compatibility with pipes and fittings of the same system - both in terms of dimensions and the M pressing profile. It is intended for installations of:
- drinking water - meets sanitary requirements for water supply systems,
- central heating - operates at pressures up to 16 bar at a temperature of 20°C, covering typical operating conditions for heating installations,
- building technology - industrial halls, public utility buildings,
- shipbuilding - dedicated design resistant to harsh environmental conditions.
The total length is 77 mm, allowing the element to fit even in highly congested piping routes.
Installation and safety functions
The press fitting is equipped with a transparent protective cap serving as a press indicator. This solution informs the installer of a correctly executed connection - before pressing, the element is not leak-tight (unverpresst undicht), which eliminates the risk of accidentally omitting the fitting during installation.
To perform the connection, M-profile pressing jaws are required - standard for the Mapress system. Before commissioning the installation, the manufacturer recommends conducting a pressure test by authorized technical personnel.
Operation at a maximum pressure of 16 bar at room temperature allows for safe operation in both vertical and horizontal branches of water and heating installations.
