Steel tees for press systems in water and heating installations
The Geberit Mapress Edelstahl tee with a diameter of 28 mm is a fitting that divides the flow of medium in installations made using the press-fitting system. All three connections have the same nominal diameter DN 25, making it an equal tee - the so-called "egal" - designed for creating branches without changing the pipe cross-section.
The product belongs to the Mapress Edelstahl series, which includes a full range of press fittings for sanitary, heating and industrial installations. Tees of this type are used in residential and public buildings as well as in industrial facilities and shipbuilding - wherever reliable steel connections are required while maintaining the speed of installation characteristic of press technology.
Construction and connection system
The tee is made of stainless steel grade 1.4401 (AISI 316) - CrNiMo chromium-nickel-molybdenum steel compliant with standard DIN EN 10088. This material is distinguished by increased corrosion resistance compared to standard austenitic steel, which is particularly important in drinking water installations and environments with elevated humidity.
Each of the three connections is a press socket (compression socket) with the M jaw profile. This means compatibility with commonly used pressing tools for this system. The outer pipe diameter is 28 mm, and the fitting wall thickness is 1.2 mm - in accordance with the standard for Mapress system pipes.
The construction provides high tensile strength, allowing the transfer of installation stresses without deformation. This makes the fitting suitable for both surface-mounted installations and in wall chases.
Sealing and operating characteristics
Each connection is equipped with a seal made of CIIR (chlorobutadiene rubber) in black color. This material tolerates contact with drinking water and heat transfer media used in heating installations well.
An important feature of the Mapress system is the leakage before pressing - the so-called "unverpresst undicht". This means that after inserting the pipe into the socket, the element is not yet sealed, which requires controlled execution of the connection with a press. This feature has practical significance: it eliminates the risk of accidental leakage during the fitting adjustment stage before pressing.
Each connection features a transparent protective cap serving as a press indicator - it protects the inner seal groove from contamination during transport and storage, and its presence signals proper pipe seating before pressing.
Operating parameters and conditions of use
The tee is designed for operation at working pressure up to 16 bar at a temperature of 20°C. The branch angle is 90°, corresponding to the standard T configuration for vertical and horizontal distributions.
Overall dimensions of the fitting: total length approximately 84 mm, height approximately 73 mm. The socket lengths are respectively 42 mm (main connection), 50 mm (side connection) and 42 mm (third branch). The weight of the element is only 0.144 kg, which facilitates handling during installation.
The product is delivered as a capped element - each socket is factory-closed with a protective cap. Before installation, caps must be removed immediately before inserting the pipe and performing the press.
The fitting is designed for water installations (including drinking water) and heating systems - this confirms the versatility of the material and seals against various working media encountered in residential and commercial buildings.
