Professional pipe connections in water and heating installations
Tees from the Geberit Mapress Edelstahl system are proven connection components used in professional sanitary, heating, and industrial installations. The model with a diameter of 42 mm (DN 40) enables creating 90° branches in pipelines made of stainless steel.
Construction and Materials
The tee body is made of stainless steel grade 316 (1.4401) - a CrNiMo alloy characterized by enhanced resistance to corrosion and chemical agents present in drinking water and heating media. The wall thickness on all three sockets is 1.5 mm, which provides high mechanical strength while maintaining optimal weight of the entire component.
Each of the three sockets ends with a crimping sleeve with jaw profile M, meaning compatibility with commonly used Mapress system crimping jaws. The connection surfaces remain in raw condition - without additional treatment or protective coatings - which facilitates proper installation and ensures tightness after crimping.
The tee is supplied with a pre-installed black gasket made of CIIR (chlorobutadiene rubber), resistant to temperature and aging. In the channel of each socket there is a transparent protective cap serving as a pressing indicator - during visual inspection it is clearly visible whether a given connection has already been crimped.
Application and Compatibility
The tee is designed for potable water installations and central heating circuits - confirmed by the material construction selected for both media. It performs well in:
- domestic installations - distribution of water and DHW risers,
- industrial facilities - expansion of pipe networks in production halls,
- shipbuilding - sanitary installations on vessels.
The weight of the component is approximately 0.28 kg, and the lengths of individual sockets are 57 mm, 65 mm, and 57 mm respectively. Note the different working lengths of the sockets (27 mm, 35 mm, 27 mm) - this is important when planning the depth of pipe insertion into the sleeve before crimping.
Operating Parameters and Safety
The maximum working pressure at 20°C is 16 bar, which allows the use of the tee in both standard residential installations and systems requiring higher pressure parameters.
A key feature of the Mapress system is the leakage-before-crimping mechanism - if the connection is not properly crimped with the jaws, it remains visibly leaky. This eliminates the risk of hidden leakage resulting from, for example, skipping a section of the installation during pressing. This safety feature is particularly important in extensive pipe networks where inspection of every connection can be difficult.
The tee does not have an air vent or drain valve - it is a purely distribution component designed for creating right-angle branches without additional service functions.
