System press connection for water and heating installations

Geberit Mapress tee made of CrNiMo stainless steel in grade 1.4401 (AISI 316) - the same material used in industrial and marine installations. All three connections have an outer diameter of 54 mm and a nominal diameter of DN50, making it an equal-diameter component - none of the openings reduce the flow cross-section.

The branch angle is 90°, and each connection is terminated with a compression socket with an M code contour. The wall thickness of the connections is 1.5 mm, ensuring high mechanical strength while maintaining the optimal mass of the entire component - the tee weighs only 0.42 kg. The working lengths of the individual connections differ slightly (34 mm for the side connections, 42 mm for the top one), which should be taken into account when planning the pipeline route.

Sealing and pre-pressing control function

Each connection is equipped with a black CIIR (chloroprene rubber) seal, resistant to temperature and typical media used in sanitary and heating installations. An important design feature is the so-called "unverpresst undicht" function - the tee only becomes leak-proof after correct crimping with compression jaws. Until pressing, the element does not form a tight connection, allowing for easy adjustment of the position before final fastening.

A factory-built pressing indicator integrated into the socket allows for visual control of the correctness of the connection made - insufficiently tightened elements remain leaky and are easy to identify during a pressure test or visually by the lack of full contact of the pressed surface.

The socket of each connection is closed by a transparent protective cap, which protects the seal from contamination and mechanical damage during transport and storage.

Scope of application and system compatibility

The tee is intended for potable water installations, heating and cooling installations - both with and without the addition of anti-freeze agents. It is also suitable for compressed air installations (oil cleanliness class 0-3), vacuum installations, and for the transmission of inert gases such as nitrogen.

The Geberit Mapress Edelstahl system is dedicated to:

• construction technology - domestic and multi-family water and heating installations,
• industry - technological installations with increased hygienic requirements,
• shipbuilding - specific operating conditions on marine vessels.

The maximum working pressure at a temperature of 20°C is 16 bar, allowing for use in most typical residential and commercial installations.

Installation and use

The connection requires the use of compression jaws with an M profile matching the code contour of the sockets. The installation process consists of inserting the pipe into the socket until it stops (until contact with the seal), positioning the element at the appropriate angle relative to the pipeline axis, and then performing the crimping with a pressing tool.

Before commissioning the installation, it is recommended to perform a pressure test in accordance with applicable standards and local regulations. Installation, initial commissioning, and maintenance should be carried out by authorized installation companies - this applies especially to gas and industrial installations.

The surface of the connections remains in a raw state (without additional anti-corrosion treatment), as 1.4401 grade stainless steel provides natural corrosion resistance sufficient for typical operating conditions of internal and industrial water and heating installations.
