Geberit Mapress stainless steel coupling: d=54mm 32008
Press connection system for sanitary and industrial installations
The Geberit Mapress compression coupling with a diameter of 54 mm (DN 50) is a component of a stainless steel piping system designed for press connections. Made of 316 (1.4401) stainless steel - a CrNiMo alloy compliant with the DIN EN 10088 standard - it ensures corrosion resistance across a wide range of working media.
Thanks to pressfitting technology, installation proceeds without welding or soldering. Simply slide the coupling onto the pipe and compress it using pressing jaws with an M profile - this significantly accelerates assembly work and eliminates the risk of welding or soldering errors.
Construction and connection features
The coupling has a total length of 83 mm, with a connection length of 41.5 mm on each side. The wall thickness at the end is 1.5 mm, providing adequate mechanical stiffness while maintaining compact dimensions.
An essential feature is the press indicator - a visual indicator of a correctly performed press connection. Additionally, the design is leaky in the unpressed state (unverpresst undicht), meaning that an incorrectly performed installation will be immediately detected by a medium leak. This solution eliminates the risk of hidden leaks and provides certainty of connection quality even before the installation is commissioned.
The set includes a black CIIR seal (chlorobutadiene rubber) and a transparent protective cap made of plastic, applied to the coupling during transport and storage.
Scope of applications
The Geberit Mapress stainless steel system is suitable for many installations:
- Potable water - cold and hot (provided that the water parameters fall within the limits specified by applicable regulations)
- Heating and cooling water - both with and without the addition of anti-freeze agents
- System heat - up to a temperature of 120°C
- Saturated steam - up to 120°C
- Industrial and process water, treated water, and rainwater with pH > 6.0
- Grey and black wastewater with pH > 6.0 and firefighting water (wet fire extinguishing and sprinkler systems)
- Firefighting equipment - sprinkler installations meeting the requirements of wet systems
In addition to water media, the coupling also handles:
- Chemicals and technical fluids
- Compressed air - oil cleanliness classes 0-3 (oil-free)
- Vacuum
- Inert gases (e.g., nitrogen) and industrial gases (e.g., acetylene, shielding gases for welding)
The coupling is used in building installations (residential, office) as well as industrial and marine applications.
Operating parameters and service conditions
The maximum working pressure at a temperature of 20°C is 16 bar. The operating temperature range of the CIIR seal is between −30°C and +120°C, allowing the coupling to be used in both outdoor installations exposed to frost and in heating or steam systems.
Due to its high tensile strength, the component maintains its load-bearing capacity even under mechanical loads typical for the assembly and pressure testing stages.
The coupling-to-coupling connection allows for the extension of a pipe section or the connection of two installation segments at a zero angle - the straight shape eliminates the need for additional pipe bending at that point.
