Branch connections for drinking water and central heating installations
The Geberit Mapress stainless steel reducing tee allows creating branches in piping systems with different diameters - the main runs have a diameter of 35 mm, while the side outlet is 15 mm. This solution is suitable wherever a smaller installation component (e.g., a riser, side outlet to a device) needs to be connected to a larger distribution pipe.
The Geberit Mapress stainless steel system is designed for drinking water, heating installations, sprinkler networks, as well as industrial and marine applications. Tees of this type are installed in floor distributors, connections to fittings, or at points where the installation changes configuration.
Construction and connection system
The body is made of stainless steel 316 (1.4401) - a CrNiMo grade with increased corrosion resistance, particularly important in drinking water installations and industrial environments. The walls at the connections have a thickness of 1.5 mm for 35 mm pipes and 1 mm for 15 mm pipes.
All three ends are press sockets (press fit) - profile M fits Geberit Mapress pressing jaws. The working length at each connection is from 24 to 29 mm, ensuring stable pipe seating in the socket.
The sealing is provided by a CIIR (chlorobutadiene rubber) ring - a black elastomer resistant to aging, well tolerated by drinking water. With proper fitting of the elements, the gasket operates within the full range of working pressures.
Operating parameters and conditions of use
The maximum working pressure at 20°C is 16 bar - typical for domestic and industrial installations. The branch angle is a standard 90°, allowing the side outlet to run perpendicular to the main pipe run.
The weight of the element is only 0.174 kg, and the overall dimensions are approximately 104 × 73 × 46 mm. The lightweight design facilitates transport and installation of the tee even in higher sections of the installation.
The manufacturer recommends installation, initial start-up, and servicing to be carried out by authorized installation companies.
Press-fit installation method
A key feature of the Geberit Mapress system is the "unverpresst undicht" function - i.e., leakage before pressing. This means that an improperly made/too loose press remains visible (sealing compound escapes), eliminating the risk of hidden installation errors.
The press socket is equipped with a transparent plastic protective cap serving as a press indicator - during pressing, the cap breaks or moves, signaling correct connection execution. This eliminates the need for additional leak testing immediately after installation.
Pressing is done with dedicated profile M jaws - one tool pass is sufficient for a permanent connection. No welding or threading is required, meaning clean work and the possibility of installation in finished rooms.
