Reducing tee for water and heating installations
This element belongs to the Geberit Mapress system - one of the most recognizable press fitting series on the installation market. The reducing tee allows for the connection of three pipe sections of different diameters in one place, enabling the construction of installation branches without the need for additional adapters or threaded reductions. In this model, the main arm has a diameter of 35 mm, the branch is 28 mm, and the third arm returns to 35 mm - a typical configuration when transitioning from a larger to a smaller dimension and returning to the original diameter.
Construction and connection technology
The tee is made of 316 grade stainless steel (1.4401) - an austenitic chromium-nickel-molybdenum alloy that stands out due to its increased corrosion resistance compared to standard 304 steel. The molybdenum in the composition ensures that the material withstands contact with high-salinity water and aggressive chemical environments well, making it suitable for both typical domestic installations and industrial facilities.
All three connections are press sleeves with an M code profile. This means compatibility with the widely used press jaws of the Geberit Mapress system - the installer does not need dedicated tools or specialized equipment outside of standard gear. The connection surfaces remain in a raw state (without additional protective coating), which is standard for this type of press fitting - tightness is achieved through a properly shaped groove on the pipe and a pressed sealing ring.
The seals are made of chloroprene-isoprene rubber (CIIR) - a material resistant to hot water and typical chemicals used in heating and water installations. The seals are factory-installed, which eliminates the risk of error during assembly and shortens working time.
Dimensions and operating parameters
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Outer diameter | 35 / 28 / 35 mm |
| Nominal diameter | DN 32 / DN 25 / DN 32 |
| Wall thickness | 1,5 / 1,2 / 1,5 mm |
| Branch angle | 90° |
| Connection working length | 24 / 30 / 24 mm |
| Maximum working pressure | 16 bar (at 20°C) |
The design is characterized by high tensile strength, meaning that after crimping, the connection does not pull apart under axial stress - an important feature for installations run in risers or over long sections without supports.
One arm of the tee is factory-capped - this allows the element to be installed as a starting point for future installation expansion without the need to install a separate plug.
Application and system compatibility
The tee is intended for two main areas:
- Potable water installations - 316 steel ensures compliance with hygiene requirements and the absence of harmful substance migration into the water. The Mapress system is certified for use in domestic water networks.
- Heating installations - CIIR seals tolerate temperatures characteristic of central heating, and the high working pressure (16 bar) provides a safety margin under typical boiler operating parameters.
The tee fits Geberit Mapress system pipes of appropriate diameters. Installation consists of inserting the pipe into the sleeve until it stops (the insertion depth is 24-30 mm respectively), and then crimping the ring with a press tool. The lack of rotating elements and the minimal number of operations allow the connection to be made quickly even in tight installation spaces - a typical scenario when replacing risers or modernizing manifolds.
