Precise pipe connections in industrial and construction installations
Reducing tees from the Geberit Mapress Edelstahl system are used to create branches in pipelines where a change in the diameter of the path is required. In this model, the main connections have a diameter of 42 mm (DN 40), and the branch has a diameter of 22 mm (DN 20). The branching angle is 90°, allowing for typical vertical or horizontal diversion of a smaller line from the main pipe.
The body is made of stainless steel grade 1.4401 (AISI 316) - a chromium-nickel-molybdenum alloy resistant to seawater corrosion, chloride solutions, and many industrial environments. The connection walls have a thickness of 1,5 mm for the main part and 1,2 mm for the branch, ensuring high mechanical strength at a working pressure of up to 16 bar at a temperature of 20°C.
All three connections are press fittings with a jaw profile marked with the letter M - compatible with widely used pressing tools for the Geberit Mapress system.
Media range and operating conditions
The manufacturer permits this tee to work with a wide range of media:
- Water - potable (cold and hot), cooling and heating water both with and without anti-freeze additives; heating water up to 120°C; production, process, and treated water; rainwater with pH ≥ 5,5; grey and black wastewater with pH ≥ 5,5.
- Saturated steam up to 120°C.
- Sprinklers in fire protection systems (wet).
- Chemicals and technical fluids - details in Geberit technical documentation.
- Compressed air with oil cleanliness class 0-3.
- Vacuum.
- Inert gases (e.g., nitrogen) and industrial gases - acetylene, shielding gases for welding.
The tee is suitable for both domestic installations as well as industry and shipbuilding.
Mapress System - installation features
The press fitting is factory-equipped with a transparent protective cap, which protects the interior from contamination on the construction site. An important element is the insertion depth indicator - a groove visible around the circumference of the fitting informs the installer whether the pressing jaws have correctly encompassed the entire circumference of the connection before starting the pressing process.
The connection only becomes leak-proof after pressing is performed - until that moment, the elements are held loosely, which facilitates any adjustment of the position before closing the circuit.
The seal is made of CIIR (chlorobutadiene rubber) - a material resistant to hot water, steam, and many chemical substances. The black color of the seal allows for quick identification of its presence during inspection.
For the end user, the press system means a smaller number of threaded connections requiring sealing with tape or hemp packing, and once installed, the whole assembly creates a smooth transition without sharp edges inside the pipe - minimizing flow resistance and potential areas for sediment buildup.
