Precision pressfitting elbow for sanitary and industrial installations
The Geberit Mapress Edelstahl 90° elbow is an element of a precision pressfitting connection system, designed for the rapid and reliable creation of bends in piping installations. The nominal diameter DN12 / 15 mm makes it suitable for both compact domestic installations and more extensive industrial or marine systems.
Construction and materials
The elbow body is made of high-alloy austenitic stainless steel CrNiMo 1.4401 (equivalent to AISI 316), in accordance with the DIN EN 10088 standard. This grade contains molybdenum, which significantly increases resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion - particularly important in water and industrial installations.
The elbow features dual-type connections: one side is a spigot end (insertion) with a working length of 59 mm, and the other is a press sleeve with a working length of 29 mm. The wall thickness at both ends is standardly 1 mm, ensuring compatibility with Mapress system pipes of the same outer diameter.
A factory-installed seal made of CIIR butyl rubber (black) guarantees a leak-proof connection after correct pressing. The press coupling is equipped with a transparent protective cap, which protects the seal groove from contamination during transport and storage - this element is removed only during installation.
Geometric parameters: the total length L is approximately 49 mm, the height H is approximately 59 mm, and the axial dimension Z is 29 mm. The self-weight is only 55 grams, facilitating transport and installation even in hard-to-reach places.
Applications and system compatibility
The Geberit Mapress Edelstahl system is tested and certified by DVGW (German Gas and Water Association) according to working sheet W 534 - which means, among other things, a leakage detection function in the unpressed state: an incorrectly executed or omitted connection will be detected during the pressure test before the installation is filled.
The operating temperature range is wide:
| Medium | Temperature | Pressure |
|---|---|---|
| Potable water (cold and hot) | 0-100 °C | up to 16 bar |
| Heating / cooling medium | -30-120 °C | up to 16 bar |
| Fernwärme (district heating) | up to +140 °C | up to 16 bar |
| Saturated steam | up to +155 °C | up to 4,5 bar |
| Solar coupling | -25-220 °C | up to 16 bar* |
*subject to individual manufacturer approval*
In addition to water media, the elbow is also effective in compressed air installations (oil cleanliness class 0-3), vacuum, inert gases (nitrogen), and industrial gases (acetylene or shielding gases for welding). The manufacturer also permits use in sprinkler, fire protection, and rainwater systems - provided that appropriate medium pH parameters are maintained.
Operating parameters and functional features
The maximum operating pressure at room temperature is 16 bar - a standard for modern sanitary and heating installations. The elbow is characterized by high tensile strength, which translates to the durability of connections even under mechanical loads.
An important practical feature is the press indicator (pressindikator) - a factory element informing the installer of the need to perform the connection. This reduces the risk of installation errors.
To correctly perform the connection, press jaws with an M profile are required - dedicated to the Mapress Edelstahl system. A specially designed jaw guide ensures their precise seating on the pressfitting coupling, eliminating the risk of incorrect positioning or tool slippage.
The product is sold as a single unit - one piece is sufficient for one 90° bend in the pipeline path. For size comparison: the catalog includes elbows of this type fromdiameter 12 mm up to 108 mm, demonstrating the versatility of the Geberit Mapress Edelstahl system - from fixture connections to large industrial or marine pipelines.
