Geberit Mapress stainless steel elbow with insertion end: 90°, d=18mm 30303

Installation elbow for stainless steel piping systems

The Geberit Mapress 90° elbow is one of the fundamental components of the extensive piping connection system used in both domestic and industrial installations. Made of CrNiMo stainless steel according to the DIN EN 10088 standard (grade 1.4401 / AISI 316), it ensures a durable and leak-proof connection for pipes with an outer diameter of 18 mm (nominally DN15). The product is supplied capped - the press sleeve is closed by a transparent protective plug, which protects the seal from contamination during transport and storage on the construction site.

The element is equipped with two types of connections: a push-fit end and a crimp socket. This solution significantly facilitates piping in tight spaces - one end is pushed into the pipe, while the other is mounted classically using M-profile crimping jaws. The wall thickness at both ends is 1 mm, which, at a working pressure of 16 bar (at 20°C), provides a solid safety margin for typical water supply and heating installations.

The Mapress system is based on pressverbindung technology - a press connection performed using manual or cordless press tools. M-profile jaws suitable for the DN15 diameter are used for crimping. The entire process takes a few seconds and does not require welding or soldering - this eliminates the risk of fire and burns, and also shortens working time on the construction site.

Leak-tightness before pressing and sealing

One of the key features of the Geberit Mapress system is leak-tightness before the press connection is made (unverpresst dicht). A black seal made of CIIR (chlorobutadiene rubber) is seated in the socket, which ensures temporary leak-tightness as soon as the pipe is inserted. This allows the installer to freely fit elements, align any length excesses, or check the route - without the need to immediately block the entire section.

Before pressing, the elbow remains dry at the interface - this is a natural behavior of the system resulting from the geometry of the CIIR seal seated in the sleeve groove. Only a correctly performed crimping with jaws ensures a durable, metallic connection that meets standard requirements.

The transparent protective plug serves as a pressindikator - if it remains visible on the inner side of the sleeve, it indicates an incorrectly performed connection requiring re-pressing.

Scope of applications

The DN15/18mm elbow is suitable for a wide spectrum of media: potable water installations (cold and hot water), heating circuits, and cooling systems - including those with anti-freeze additives. The manufacturer permits use in district heating networks (≤120°C), saturated steam (≤120°C), fire protection installations (firefighting water, sprinklers), and compressed air (oil cleanliness class 0-3). The element is also suitable for industrial media: chemicals, process fluids, treated water, rainwater and greywater (at pH>6.0), and inert and technical gases.

The system is dedicated to the sanitary, HVAC, and shipbuilding (Schiffbau) industries, where high corrosion resistance of 316 austenitic steel is required.

Before using any unusual medium, it is worth checking the Geberit chemical resistance table for CIIR seals.

Installation tips

Installation must be carried out by authorized installation teams - as recommended by the manufacturer for every Mapress system element. Before starting work, ensure that the pipes are clean and do not have sharp edges from cutting. The push-fit end is lubricated with water or a special lubricant (not oil!), and then pushed into the socket until it stops - the moment of resistance signals correct seating on the CIIR seal.

After positioning the elbow in the desired direction, pressing is performed with M-profile jaws through the sleeve until it is fully closed around thepipe. The weight of the element is only 69 grams, making it one of the lighter fittings in its class - this facilitates handling even at height or in hard-to-reach areas of suspended ceilings.
