Sliding coupling for pressfitting systems - stainless steel 316

The Geberit Mapress sliding coupling in size 18 mm is an element of the Mapress Edelstahl series designed to create sliding connections in press-connection installations. It features a design that allows for pipe length compensation during installation - particularly useful for connections requiring a certain amount of axial clearance.

The product is made of CrNiMo 1.4401 stainless steel (compliant with DIN EN 10088), ensuring corrosion resistance across a wide range of working media. The wall thickness at both connections is 1 mm, and the nominal connection diameter corresponds to DN 15. Each side of the coupling is a press connection with a length of 40 mm - a solution compatible with M-profile press jaws.

Construction and safety mechanism

The coupling is equipped with a black CIIR (chlorobutadiene rubber) seal, factory-seated in the groove of the press end. The black sealing ring is visible through a transparent protective cap placed on the pipe during transport and storage - this eliminates seal contamination before installation.

A key solution here is the pressindikator - a special groove around the coupling signaling that the connection has been correctly performed. Until the press operation is completed, the connection remains unsealed (unverpresst undicht). For the installer, this provides unambiguous control information - there is no need to separately check every point after completing the work.

• Heating and DHW - heating boilers, heat exchangers, solar systems
• Cooling - circuits with or without anti-freeze additives

• Process water - including treated and rainwater (pH > 6.0)
• Wastewater - grey and black water at pH > 6.0
• Fire protection systems - wet sprinklers, fire extinguishing installations
• Compressed air - oil cleanliness class 0-3
• Technical gases - inert (e.g., nitrogen), industrial (e.g., acetylene)
• Chemicals and technical fluids

A working pressure of 16 bar at 20°C allows for use in most typical hydraulic installations.

Geometric parameters

The total length of the coupling is 80 mm, with the working part of each connection being 15 mm. These dimensions correspond to Mapress system standards for diameter DN 15 / 18 mm. The product is supplied as a straight element, factory-capped at one end - this facilitates the phasing of construction work when the other end of the installation is not yet ready.

High tensile strength allows this type of coupling to be used where the pipe may be subject to axial stresses - e.g., in long pipe runs compensating for thermal expansion.
