Compensation element for piping installations

This type of sliding coupling serves as a compensation connection in piping systems - it enables axial displacement of the pipe relative to the coupling, which is useful when expanding existing installations, in areas with difficult access, or when slight dimensional differences occur between elements during assembly. In the Geberit Mapress Edelstahl system, it is used to create flexible connections between pipe sections with an outer diameter of 35 mm (DN 32).

Material and corrosion resistance

The body is made of CrNiMo 1.4401 stainless steel in accordance with the DIN EN 10088 standard - the same grade as the Mapress Edelstahl series system pipes. This ensures material homogeneity of the connection and high resistance to corrosion from both the internal medium and external conditions.

The wall thickness at both ends is 1.5 mm, which, at a working pressure of 16 bar at a temperature of 20°C, provides a solid safety margin for typical water and heating installations.

Sealing and tightness before pressing

A black butadiene-acrylonitrile rubber seal (CIIR) is used, which ensures tightness even before pressing - the unpressed connection remains leak-proof, eliminating the risk of flooding during pressure tests or finishing works on the construction site.

Additionally, the coupling is equipped with a transparent protective cap that protects the interior of the press coupling from contamination before installation.

Applications and installation

The product belongs to the universal Geberit Mapress Edelstahl line, supporting a wide spectrum of media: drinking water (cold and hot), heating agents with or without antifreeze additives, cooling water, district heating, and saturated steam (up to 120°C), industrial and process water, rainwater with pH > 6.0, grey and black wastewater with pH > 6.0, wet fire extinguishing water and sprinkler systems, compressed air (oil cleanliness class 0-3), inert gases (e.g., nitrogen) and industrial gases such as acetylene or shielding gases for welding, as well as chemicals and technical fluids.

As a result, the coupling is suitable for sanitary installations in residential and public utility buildings, as well as in industrial facilities and shipbuilding.

The press connection requires the use of pressing jaws with an M-code profile - standard for the Geberit Mapress system. The working length of each connection is 21 mm, the total length of the coupling is 102 mm, and the length of the connection part is 51 mm. A visible press indicator is located on the body, informing of the need to perform the pressing - making the element user-friendly for installers working under time pressure.

The coupling is factory-sealed with a transparent transport cap; it does not have an air vent or drain valve - these functions are performed by other elements of the Mapress system.

It is also available as part of the wider size range of the Schiebemuffe series, covering dimensions from DN 10 (12 mm) up to DN 100 (108 mm), allowing for the design of consistent installations using a single system throughout the entire technical boundary of the facility.
