Press connection system for sanitary and industrial installations

The Geberit Mapress Edelstahl sliding coupling with a diameter of 42 mm (DN 40) is a pressfitting system component designed for the fast and secure connection of pipes in water, heating, and industrial installations. The simple shape of the fitting allows for a sliding connection between two pipe sections—a solution useful where length compensation or pipeline axis alignment is necessary without using additional connectors.

The product is made of 316 (1.4401) stainless steel - CrNiMo in accordance with the DIN EN 10088 standard. This grade is characterized by increased corrosion resistance in contact with drinking water and aggressive technical media. The walls of both connections have a thickness of 1,5 mm, ensuring high mechanical strength while maintaining the optimal mass of the entire component.

Construction and functional features

The coupling is equipped with a CIIR seal (chlorobutadiene rubber) in black. The operating temperature range is from −30°C to +120°C, allowing for use in both cold and hot water installations as well as district heating networks with temperatures up to 120°C.

An important solution is the leakage before pressing function—if the fitting is not correctly pressed with the press jaws, it remains leaky. This eliminates the risk of hidden installation errors and allows deficiencies to be detected before the installation is put into service.

Additionally, the coupling features a transparent protective cap serving as an indicator of the correct execution of the press connection and a 20 mm working clamping length on each side—sufficient for secure pipe seating and correct positioning of the tool jaws.

The product is suitable for both residential and commercial installations (Haustechnik), as well as industrial facilities and floating units—the manufacturer declares suitability for shipbuilding.

Operating parameters and usage

The maximum operating pressure at a temperature of 20°C is 16 bar. An increase in temperature reduces the permissible nominal pressure according to the system characteristics—the installation designer must take these dependencies into account when selecting fittings.

To correctly perform the connection, clamping jaws with an M profile dedicated to the Geberit Mapress system are required. The total length of the fitting is 120 mm, with each connection having a mounting length of 60 mm. Dimension Z (distance from the end of the coupling to the start of the press zone) is 40 mm.

The coupling is factory-capped and supplied as a component ready for installation—it does not require additional seals or mounting accessories. The connection surfaces remain in a raw (unprocessed) state, which is standard for pressfitting components designed to be pressed onto pipes of the same specification.

The product weight is approximately 215 g, making it a lightweight component that does not strain the pipeline structure, even with a large number of connection points.
