Reducing tee for press-fit installations
The Geberit Mapress Edelstahl reducing tee enables the construction of extensive piping installations in a press-fit system - without welding or soldering. This component is ideal anywhere a pipe with a diameter of 18 mm needs to be connected to two branches with a diameter of 15 mm at a right angle. The total body length is just under 8 cm, and the weight is only 84 grams, making it compact and easy to install even in tight installation spaces.
Design and material
The body is made of 1.4401 (AISI 316) stainless steel - a chromium-nickel-molybdenum alloy resistant to drinking water corrosion and many industrial media. The wall thickness at each connection is 1 mm, ensuring high mechanical strength while maintaining a low mass. Each of the three connections is a press socket with a coded M profile - dedicated to Geberit Mapress press jaws. The surfaces are in a raw state, without additional processing, which simplifies identification during assembly.
The working lengths of the individual bell ends are 14 mm (main connection), 21 mm, and 25 mm respectively - sufficient to ensure stable pipe seating before it is secured in the pressing jaw.
Press-fit system properties
The connection is made using the press technique - simply insert the pipe into the socket, apply the compression jaws, and perform the pressing. A key feature of this tee is the "unverpresst undicht" function - if the connection is not correctly pressed, the element remains leaky and signals the need to repeat the operation. This eliminates the risk of a hidden installation error.
The socket features a press indicator - a visual control point that allows you to ensure before pressing that the pipe is inserted to the correct depth. A transparent protective stop plug protects the inside of the socket from contamination during transport and storage.
The seal consists of a CIIR ring (chlorobutadiene rubber) - a material resistant to temperatures up to 120°C and to most commonly used heat carriers and chemicals.
The maximum working pressure at a temperature of 20°C is 16 bar, allowing for wide application in domestic and industrial installations.
Scope of applications
This tee belongs to the family of components intended for:
- drinking water - both cold and hot,
- heating and cooling water - also with the addition of glycol,
- district heating water up to 120°C,
- saturated steam up to 120°C,
- process and treated water,
- rainwater as well as grey and black water (at pH > 6.0),
- wet fire extinguishing water and sprinkler systems,
- compressed air (oil cleanliness class 0-3),
- inert (e.g., nitrogen) and technical gases,
- selected chemicals and industrial fluids.
The component is used in both municipal installations (single-family houses, public utility buildings) as well as in industry and on floating units - anywhere certified quality of pipe connections is required.
