Stainless steel reducing tee for water and heating installations
The Geberit Mapress Edelstahl reducing tee enables the connection of three pipe sections in a 90° configuration, where one arm has a smaller diameter than the others - allowing for a smooth transition from the main pipe 54 mm (DN50) to a branch 22 mm (DN20). This solution is ideal anywhere an installation requires a gradual reduction in flow without using additional adapters.
The Geberit Mapress system is based on press connections - each of the three connections is a press fitting with an M-profile, operated with press jaws of the same standard. All three ends are made of 316 (1.4401) grade stainless steel - a chromium-nickel-molybdenum alloy resistant to corrosion from potable water and heat transfer media.
Construction and connection tightness
Each connection is equipped with a factory-installed seal made of chloroprene rubber (CIIR) - a black ring resistant to temperature and aging. This ensures the connection is leak-proof even before pressing. This is a crucial feature for the installer: if the tee leaks before pressing, it indicates improper seating - making the system self-diagnostic.
The pressing socket is equipped with a transparent protective cap, which serves as a pressing indicator - informing whether the end has already been processed.
The wall thickness of the main connections is 1.5 mm, while the reducing arm has a wall thickness of 1.2 mm. This difference results from the lower pressure load on the branch and allows for a slight reduction in the total weight of the component while maintaining full strength.
Application and system compatibility
Geberit Mapress Edelstahl tees are dedicated to two primary applications:
- potable water installations - 316 steel withstands contact with utility water well,
- central heating installations - heat transfer media do not cause corrosion in this alloy.
The manufacturer also permits their use in industry and shipbuilding, which testifies to the high material resistance.
The maximum working pressure at 20°C is 16 bar - sufficient for typical domestic installations and multi-story residential buildings.
The Mapress system is materially homogeneous: all elements in the series are made of the same grade of stainless steel, which eliminates the risk of galvanic contact corrosion between components.
Geometric parameters and working dimensions
To correctly design the conduit route, it is worth noting the installation dimensions:
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Total length | ~144 mm |
| Height | ~95 mm |
| Depth | ~69 mm |
| Working length of main connections | 34 mm |
| Working length of side connection | 39 mm |
These dimensions allow for precise fitting of the tee into existing pipeline routes without the need for additional machining.
The weight of the component is approximately 0.36 kg, making it light even by steel fitting standards - facilitating transport and handling on the construction site.
