316 Stainless Steel and press connection
The Geberit Mapress Edelstahl reducing tee enables the connection of three pipes of different diameters at a single installation point - two 54 mm (DN 50) lines with one 28 mm (DN 25) line. The branch angle is 90°, allowing for installation in typical horizontal and vertical layouts.
All three connections are made as press couplings using stainless steel grade 316 (1.4401) according to the DIN EN 10088 standard - CrNiMo chromium-nickel-molybdenum steel. The coupling wall thickness is 1.5 mm for the main connections and 1.2 mm for the reducing branch. The surfaces remain in a raw state - without additional anti-corrosion treatment, as the material itself provides sufficient resistance.
The Mapress system is based on a jaw connection with an M profile. A key feature is the visual indicator - a transparent protective cap on the coupling signals the correct pipe seating before the elements are pressed. The connection only becomes leak-proof after pressing with the jaws - prior to this, it is not leak-proof, which eliminates the risk of accidentally commissioning the installation without full assembly.
The seal made of CIIR (chlorobutadiene rubber) ensures durability across a wide temperature range and chemical resistance.
Applications and media compatibility
The tee is suitable for domestic, industrial, and marine installations. The manufacturer declares suitability for: cold and hot water; cooling and heating water - both with and without antifreeze additives; district heating water and saturated steam up to 120°C; process, production, and treated water; rainwater with pH ≥ 5.5; grey and black wastewater with pH ≥ 5.5; wet sprinklers and sprinkler systems; chemicals and technical fluids; compressed air (oil cleanliness class 0-3); vacuum, as well as inert gases (e.g., nitrogen) and industrial gases (e.g., acetylene).
For the designer or installer, this means the possibility of standardizing fittings in multi-media installations - one component covers a wide range of media without the need to select separate fittings for each medium.
Operating parameters and usage conditions
The maximum working pressure at 20°C is 16 bar. As temperature increases, the pressure capacity decreases in accordance with stainless steel characteristics - the manufacturer specifies a limit of 120°C for district heating water and saturated steam.
The design ensures high tensile strength of the connections - important for installations exposed to vibrations or temperature changes causing linear expansion of the pipes.
For correct assembly, clamping jaws with an M profile must be used. The working lengths of the connections range from 34-40 mm, which requires appropriate pipe insertion before pressing.
The tee does not have a drain valve or air vent - it is a pure distribution fitting without service functions.
