Connection system for water and heating installations

The Geberit transition coupling from the Mapress Edelstahl series enables the connection of a pipe with an outer diameter of 28 mm to an internal thread Rp 1/2" (cylindrical thread compliant with ISO 7-1 / EN 10226-1). This compact transition link, with a total length of only 38 mm, is ideal anywhere a pipe installation segment needs to be quickly and reliably connected to a threaded element - such as a fixture, valve, or device connection.

The product is made of 316 stainless steel (grade 1.4401 / CrNiMo), ensuring high corrosion resistance and mechanical strength. The pipe wall thickness at the connection is 1.2 mm, and the length of the socket itself is 23 mm - providing sufficient insertion depth for the correct seating of the pipe in the socket before pressing with jaws.

The Mapress system is based on a press connection with a CIIR seal. In practice, this means that before the connection is made - while the element is still unpressed - any leakage can be detected immediately. This gives the installer certainty that every socket has been correctly prepared before engaging the jaws. The set includes a transparent protective cap that shields the interior of the socket from dirt on the construction site.

Application and purpose

The coupling belongs to the category of transition elements (Übergangsmuffe) and is intended for installations:

• potable water - 316 stainless steel meets the hygienic requirements for water supply systems,
• heating installations - high tensile strength confirms the ability to withstand pressure loads typical for central heating.

The manufacturer dedicates this series to construction technology, industry, and shipbuilding. The M press contour is one of the basic profiles used in the Geberit Mapress system - it is compatible with widely available press jaws of this type.

Construction and design

The coupling has a simple shape (arc angle 0°) without an air vent or drain valve. On the socket side (connection no. 1), there is a clamping socket with a nominal diameter DN 25, adapted for Ø28 mm pipe. The working length of this connection is 1 mm, and the total socket length is 23 mm with a wall thickness of 1.2 mm. The threaded side (connection no. 2) is a cylindrical internal thread BSPT-Rp 1/2" with a length of 15 mm and a nominal diameter DN 15. Both ends are finished in a raw state - without additional protective coating or lacquer.

Installation and use

Correct installation requires the use of press jaws with an M contour. Before pressing, the pipe must be inserted to the full depth of the socket - thanks to the transparent protective cap, it is easy to assess whether the pipe has reached the correct position. Once the element is aligned, simply perform the press connection according to the manufacturer's instructions.

The element is factory-capped, protecting the interior during transport and storage. A CIIR seal is pre-installed in the socket - the black ring is clearly visible and ready for work immediately after unpacking.

Installation, commissioning, and maintenance should be carried out by authorized installers holding the appropriate qualifications for water and heating networks.
