Press connection system for sanitary and industrial installations

The Geberit Mapress Edelstahl transition coupling enables the connection of a system pipe with an outer diameter of 28 mm to a cylindrical internal thread Rp 1" compliant with the ISO 7-1 / EN 10226-1 standard. It is an element of the Mapress series - an industry-recognized press connection system made of stainless steel grade 1.4401 (CrNiMo), which allows for the creation of leak-proof installations without the need for welding or brazing.

Construction and principle of the press connection operation

The press connection operates on the principle of clamping - the pipe is inserted into the clamping sleeve with a CIIR seal, and then pressed with M-profile jaws using a press tool. A key feature of this solution is the "unpressed leaky" function - until the connection is fully pressed, it remains leaky, meaning that insufficient pressure is immediately detected during a pressure test. The built-in press indicator further confirms the correct execution of the connection.

The sleeve is equipped with a transparent protective cap, which protects the interior of the component from contamination during transport and storage - particularly important on construction sites and in industrial conditions.

Materials and chemical resistance

The body is made of 316 (1.4401) stainless steel according to the DIN EN 10088 standard - a chromium-nickel-molybdenum alloy resistant to intergranular corrosion and the action of chlorides. The seal is made of CIIR (chlorobutadiene rubber), which ensures compatibility with a wide spectrum of media:

Applications - from residential buildings to industrial and marine facilities

Thanks to its high tensile strength and corrosion resistance, 316 steel is used in both domestic and commercial installations (drinking water, heating), as well as in demanding environments: industry, energy (district heating networks), and even shipbuilding. The compact total length of 44 mm facilitates piping in tight installation spaces - typical, for example, during riser replacement or boiler room modernization.

The absence of hot work during installation is a practical benefit: eliminating open flames or high temperatures allows the installation to be mounted even in finished rooms, without the risk of damaging materials around the pipe.
