Geberit Mapress Edelstahl press connection system
Instead of traditional welding or brazing, Mapress system pipes and fittings are connected using a press connection made with special M-profile jaws. The press technique significantly accelerates installation work and eliminates the risk of errors typical for thermal processes—such as material deformation or the need to use open flames on construction sites.
Parameters of both connections
On the first side, there is a press sleeve with an outer diameter of 54 mm, nominal size DN 50, and a wall thickness of 1,5 mm. The length of the coupling is 35 mm, and the working insertion depth of the pipe is 2 mm. The connection is made of 316 (1.4401 / CrNiMo) stainless steel—a chromium-nickel-molybdenum alloy with increased resistance to corrosion and chlorides. The surface remains in a raw state.
On the second side, an internal cylindrical thread is installed according to the BSPT-Rp standard (compliant with ISO 7-1 and EN 10226-1) with a diameter of 2 inches. The thread has a length of 27 mm, ensuring sufficient contact surface with the threaded element—such as a valve, boiler connection, or manifold.
The total length of the fitting is 62 mm, and dimension Z is 0,4 cm. The shape is straight—without axial deviation.
Sealing and leak signaling
A factory-installed seal made of CIIR (chloroprene-nitrile rubber) in black ensures the tightness of the press connection immediately after pressing. The manufacturer has equipped the fitting with the unverpresst undicht function—a leak signaling mechanism in case of insufficient pressing. As long as the connection is not correctly pressed with the jaws, it will leak—which eliminates the risk of a hidden installation error.
The press coupling is additionally equipped with a transparent protective cap to protect the interior of the fitting from contamination during transport and storage.
Media compatibility
The fitting is suitable for commercial, industrial, and marine installations:
- hot and cold potable water,
- water for cooling and heating purposes—with or without anti-freeze additives,
- district heating water up to a temperature of 120 °C,
- saturated steam up to 120 °C,
- industrial and process water,
- purified water,
- rainwater with pH > 6,0,
- grey and black wastewater with pH > 6,0,
- wet fire protection water and sprinkler systems,
- chemicals and technical liquids,
- compressed air (oil cleanliness class 0-3),
- vacuum and inert gases (e.g., nitrogen),
- industrial gases such as acetylene or shielding gases for welding.
Increased tensile strength means that once correctly installed, the connection carries mechanical loads without the risk of disconnection under axial stress. The M-profiles of both connections allow for the use of the same pressing jaws—simplifying tool logistics on large multi-disciplinary sites.
Installation consists of inserting the pipe into the coupling until it reaches the factory stop, screwing on the threaded element, and performing one press cycle around the press coupling using M-profile jaws. The product is delivered factory-capped—both openings are closed prior to the moment of installation.
