System Mapress Edelstahl - precise pipe connections
The Geberit Mapress transition coupling is a pressfitting system component designed to create leak-proof connections between pipes and threaded fittings. The design based on the M-profile enables fast and reliable installation using the pressing method - without the need for welding or threading at the installation site.
The product consists of two different types of connections: one side is a press socket adapted for pipes with an outer diameter of 15 mm (DN 12), and the other is a tapered BSPT-R male gas thread in size 3/4 inch. This combination allows for the direct connection of a piping installation section to valves, filters, or other elements equipped with inch-sized threads.
Materials and workmanship
The coupling body is made of 316 (1.4401) stainless steel - a high-alloy austenitic Cr-Ni-Mo steel, which is characterized by increased corrosion resistance compared to standard stainless steels. This grade is particularly effective in water installations exposed to aggressive chemical environments.
The external thread is a separate element made of 1.4571 stainless steel - also a high-alloy Cr-Ni-Mo steel according to DIN EN 10088. Thanks to this, both the pressfitting part and the threaded part maintain consistent corrosion resistance throughout the entire operating range.
Sealing is provided by a CIIR type ring (butyl rubber) - a material dedicated to potable and technical systems, approved by the Federal Environmental Agency. All seals are factory-installed in the body, eliminating the risk of error during assembly.
Operating parameters and scope of application
The Geberit Mapress Edelstahl system operates at a working pressure of up to 16 bar and a temperature of up to 140°C, which covers most typical heating, domestic hot water, and district heating installations. The manufacturer also allows operation with saturated steam (up to 155°C at max. 4.5 bar) and solar installations (from -25°C to +220°C, but requiring separate Geberit approval).
The range of media is wide:
| Medium | Temperature | Pressure |
|---|---|---|
| Potable water (cold and hot) | 0-100°C | max. 16 bar |
| Heating water with antifreeze | -30-120°C | max. 16 bar |
| District heating | up to 140°C | max. 16 bar |
| Saturated steam | up to 155°C | max. 4.5 bar |
| Rainwater / sewage | pH >6.0 | max. 16 bar |
| Sprinkler / fire extinguishers | - | max. 16 bar |
Additionally, the system is suitable for industrial installations - compressed air (oil cleanliness class 0-3), inert gases, or technical chemicals.
Solutions supporting installation safety
One of the key features of the Mapress system is the "unverpresst undicht" function - meaning the signaling of a leak in the state of an incorrectly executed connection. If the coupling is not pressed correctly, a pressure test will immediately reveal a leak - giving the installer certainty of tightness before handing the installation over for use.
Additionally, each pressfitting sleeve is equipped with a transparent protective cap protecting the seal from contamination during transport and storage, and a pressing indicator informing about the correct positioning of the jaws.
The total length of the coupling is 43 mm, with the pressfitting part having a length of 20 mm and the threaded part - 23 mm. Compact dimensions facilitate pipe routing in limited installation spaces.
The system is tested by DVGW (German Gas and Water Association) according to working sheet W534 - guaranteeing compliance with the strict technical requirements applicable in the European installation market.
