Professional stainless steel pipeline connection
The Geberit Mapress Edelstahl transition coupling is a component of a press-fit system that enables fast and secure connection of installation sections without the need for welding or brazing. One side of the coupling is equipped with an M-profile press sleeve adapted for use with the pressing jaws of the same system, while the other side features a 3/4 inch BSPT-R tapered external gas thread, allowing for the connection of fittings or other components with threaded connections.
The body is made of 1.4401 (CrNiMo / AISI 316) stainless steel - a corrosion-resistant material that is suitable for both drinking water installations and industrial environments with high chemical requirements. The sleeve wall thickness is 1 mm, and the total body length is 44 mm, ensuring a compact geometry suitable for typical installation pipeline routes.
Connection and sealing characteristics
The press sleeve is finished in a raw state - without additional protective coating at this stage - and is supplied with a transparent plastic protective cap that protects the interior from contamination until installation. Sealing is provided by an O-ring made of CIIR (chlorobutadiene rubber), resistant to many media transported in installations.
An important design solution is the incomplete press indicator - a characteristic element of the Mapress system that informs about the quality of the performed connection. Until the coupling is correctly pressed with the jaws, the connection remains leak-tight only during a pressure test; full tightness is achieved only after the pressing operation is completed.
Wide range of applications
The DN 15/20 coupling for a 18 mm pipe diameter is dedicated to many types of installations:
- Drinking water - cold and hot,
- Heating and cooling circuits - both without and with the addition of anti-freeze agents,
- System heating and saturated steam - up to a temperature of 120 °C,
- Rainwater as well as grey and black wastewater - at pH > 6.0,
- Compressed air - oil cleanliness class 0-3,
- Inert gases (e.g., nitrogen) and industrial gases (e.g., acetylene, shielding gases for welding),
- Chemicals and technical fluids, process and treated waters,
- Sprinkler systems and fire protection networks.
It finds application in residential and commercial construction, as well as in industrial facilities and marine installations - everywhere where the durability of the steel connection and the material's resistance to various energy carriers or process media is important.
Advantages of press-fit installation
Geberit Mapress press-fitting technology eliminates hot work on the construction site - there is no need to weld or braze, which significantly shortens installation time and reduces the risk of execution error. The connection made with pressing jaws is mechanically durable (high tensile strength) and maintains tightness throughout the entire service life of the installation.
316 stainless steel as the material for both connections guarantees corrosion resistance in demanding operating conditions - especially when in contact with water of varying temperatures or chemical substances present in industrial media.
