Universal connection for sanitary and industrial installations

The Geberit Mapress Edelstahl transition coupling enables the connection of a system pipe with a diameter of 22 mm to a component equipped with an R½ inch external thread. The design combines an M-profile press sleeve with a tapered BSPT-R gas thread, allowing for the creation of leak-proof connections in water supply, heating, and industrial installations.

Application and system compatibility

The M-profile press sleeve fits standard Geberit Mapress pressing jaws, ensuring the component integrates with popular installation systems used in residential, commercial, and industrial construction. The R½ inch tapered thread ensures compatibility with a wide range of fittings - valves, connectors, or sanitary appliances.

The product is used in installations for:

• potable water (cold and hot) and process water,
• heating and cooling water - including with anti-freeze agents,
• saturated steam up to 120°C,
• compressed air (oil cleanliness class 0-3),
• inert gases (nitrogen) and industrial gases - acetylene, shielding gases for welding,
• grey and black wastewater with pH >6,0,
• chemicals and technical fluids,
• wet sprinklers.

Construction and materials

The body is made of CrNiMo 1.4401 stainless steel (equivalent to AISI 316), which features increased corrosion resistance compared to 304 type steels. The 316 grade is effective in chemically aggressive environments and where elevated medium temperatures occur.

The sleeve wall thickness is 1.2 mm with a connection length of 21 mm - these are sufficient parameters for the secure seating of the system pipe before pressing. The external thread is also made of stainless steel of the same grade.

The seal made of CIIR (chlorobutadiene rubber) ensures the tightness of the threaded connection. This material performs well with both water and certain chemicals and industrial gases.

A practical solution is the transparent protective cap placed on the sleeve - it protects the interior of the fitting from contamination during transport and installation on the construction site.

Operating parameters and characteristic features

The total length is 42 mm with a height (from axis to sleeve face) of approximately 21 mm - compact dimensions facilitate piping in limited installation spaces.

A key feature of the Geberit Mapress system is the pressing indicator visible before pressing - the installer is assured that the connection has been correctly made only after performing the crimping operation with the jaws. Until pressing, the connection remains leaky (so-called "unverpresst undicht"), which eliminates the risk of accidental leakage during the assembly of multiple components.

High tensile strength allows for the use of this type of fitting in installations exposed to mechanical loads - e.g., when routing pipelines over long distances without intermediate supports.

The nominal connection diameter DN20/15 corresponds to design standards for residential and public utility buildings.
