Universal pipe connection for pressure installations

The Geberit Mapress Edelstahl transition coupling with external thread is a press-fit system component that enables the connection of a pipe with an outside diameter of 28 mm to a threaded connection of R 3/4 inch (tapered BSPT according to ISO 7-1 / EN 10226-1). The construction based on CrNiMo 1.4401 steel (316 stainless steel) ensures corrosion resistance in demanding media - both in drinking water and industrial installations.

The press-fit coupling is equipped with a transparent protective cap and a pressing indicator, which allows for verification of the connection's correctness before the installation is put into service. The total length is 46 mm, and both ends have a connection length of 23 mm - important when designing the pipeline route and selecting the appropriate M-profile pressing jaws.

Material and sealing

The body is made of CrNiMo 1.4401 steel in accordance with the EN 10088 standard - this grade contains molybdenum, which increases resistance to chlorides and pitting corrosion compared to standard stainless steel. The surface remains in a raw state (without additional coating), which is typical for Mapress Edelstahl systems.

The seal made of CIIR (chlorobutadiene rubber) in black performs well in drinking water, sewage, and many industrial media. For rainwater and sewage, a pH coefficient >6.0 is required.

Scope of applications

The coupling is one of the most versatile elements of the Geberit Mapress system:

• Drinking water - cold and hot,
• Heating and cooling agents - both with and without anti-freeze agents,
• Hot water and saturated steam - up to a temperature of 120°C,
• Compressed air - oil cleanliness class 0-3,
• Industrial gases - acetylene, shielding gases for welding,
• Inert gases - e.g., nitrogen,
• Chemicals and technical fluids, process water, and treated water,
• Sprinklers and fire protection installations (wet).

The manufacturer also permits use in shipbuilding.

Installation and principle of the press-fit connection

A key feature of the system: before pressing, the connection remains unsealed. Only a correctly performed pressing process with M-profile jaws guarantees the tightness of the entire connection. The pressing indicator visible on the coupling informs the installer of the pressing progress - eliminating the risk of installation error.

Pipe preparation before pressing includes standard steps: calibrating the pipe end with a V-cut groove and inserting it deeply into the coupling until it stops. The transport cap protects the seal from contamination during transport and storage on the construction site.

The coupling is suitable for Geberit Mapress Edelstahl system pipes with a nominal diameter of DN25/20. The R 3/4 inch threaded connection allows for the connection of fittings or other threaded elements - e.g., ball valves, filters, or circulation pumps.

The M-profile jaw system covers the entire range of sizes - from DN10 up to DN80 - allowing for the construction of complete installations with a single tool. Installation must be carried out by authorized specialist companies - press-fit system manufacturers require this condition to maintain the warranty on connection tightness.
