Press connection system for sanitary and industrial installations
The Geberit Mapress Edelstahl transition coupling is an element of a stainless steel piping system designed for fast and secure connections in water supply, heating, gas, and sprinkler installations. The product is equipped with an M-profile press sleeve with an outer diameter of 28 mm (DN 25) and a BSPT-R external thread of size 1 inch, enabling connection to Mapress system pipes and threaded fittings.
Construction and materials
The coupling body is made of CrNiMo 1.4401 stainless steel in accordance with EN 10088 - this grade contains molybdenum, which increases corrosion resistance in environments containing chlorides. The press connection wall thickness is 1.2 mm, ensuring high mechanical strength while maintaining compact overall dimensions: length 48 mm, height 23 mm. The surfaces of both connections remain in a raw state - without additional lacquer treatment or protective coatings.
The set includes a black seal made of chlorobutadiene rubber (CIIR), resistant to hot water, heating agents, and certain chemicals. The press sleeve is equipped with a transparent protective cap, which protects the interior from contamination during transport and storage on the construction site.
Press indicator and principle of operation
A characteristic feature of the Geberit Mapress system is the solution referred to as "unverpresst undicht" - meaning leaky before pressing. This means that after inserting the pipe into the sleeve and before performing the pressfitting connection, it remains open and does not hold pressure. Only a correctly executed crimping with press jaws activates the seal.
The integrated press indicator (pressindikator) allows for visual control of the connection's correctness - the installer can see whether the pressing process has been completed. This feature significantly reduces the risk of installation errors and eliminates the need for welding or soldering.
Scope of applications
The coupling is suitable for a wide spectrum of installation media:
- hot and cold potable water,
- cooling and heating water - both without and with the addition of anti-freeze agents,
- heating water up to a temperature of 120 °C,
- saturated steam up to 120 °C,
- process and production water,
- treated and rainwater (at pH > 6.0),
- grey and black wastewater (at pH > 6.0),
- fire hydrant and sprinkler installations (wet),
- chemicals and technical fluids,
- compressed air (oil cleanliness class 0-3),
- vacuum,
- inert gases (e.g., nitrogen) and industrial gases (e.g., acetylene, shielding gases for welding).
Thanks to these properties, the component finds application in domestic and commercial installations, as well as in industry and shipbuilding.
