Geberit Mapress stainless steel transition coupling with male thread: d=35mm, R=1 1/4'' 31709
Universal pipe connection for demanding installations
The Geberit Mapress Edelstahl transition coupling is used to create leak-proof connections between this manufacturer's system pipes and equipment components equipped with a tapered external thread. The design, based on a press fitting on one side and a BSPT-R tapered thread on the other, makes this element applicable in practically any installation - from domestic drinking water systems to industrial heating and compressor networks, as well as marine gas systems.
Nominal dimensions DN 32 with an outer pipe diameter of 35 mm and a thread of R 1¼" correspond to the most popular sizes used in medium-sized installations. The total length of 53 mm and height of 27 mm allow for installation even in tight spaces - the press fitting has a length of 26 mm, and the threaded part is 27 mm, ensuring stable seating on both sides.
Materials and workmanship
The coupling body is made of CrNiMo 1.4401 stainless steel according to the DIN EN 10088 standard - a grade with increased corrosion resistance that performs well in both drinking water and chemically aggressive environments. The sleeve walls have a thickness of 1,5 mm, ensuring high mechanical strength of the connection.
The seal made of CIIR (chlorobutadiene rubber) guarantees tightness across a wide temperature range - from ice water to saturated steam up to 120°C. A black sealing ring is factory-installed in the fitting socket.
The Mapress system features a characteristic pressing indicator - before pressing, the connection remains leaky (so-called „unverpresst undicht"), which eliminates the risk of skipping a point during installation. The fitting is protected by a transparent protective cap that shields the interior from contamination during transport and storage.
Scope of applications
The coupling supports practically all energy media encountered in installations:
- cold and hot water,
- heating and cooling water - both with and without glycol additives,
- district heating water and saturated steam up to 120°C,
- process and treated water,
- rainwater with pH >6,0,
- grey and black wastewater with pH >6,0,
- wet sprinklers,
- chemicals and technical fluids,
- compressed air with oil cleanliness class 0-3,
- vacuum and inert gases (e.g., nitrogen),
- industrial gases - acetylene and shielding gases for welding.
Designed for domestic, industrial, and marine installations - where reliability confirmed by the many years of experience of the sanitary fittings manufacturer is required.
Installation and compatibility
To press the sleeve, M type jaws are used, which are available in most popular pressing tools. The BSPT-R external thread (tapered) according to ISO 7-1 / EN 10226-1 fits directly into fittings and devices with inch-sized threads of this standard - valves, filters, pumps, or heat exchangers.
The surfaces of both connections remain in a raw state (without additional coating), which is standard for this type of steel fitting and facilitates eventual disassembly. The weight of the element is approximately 187 g, making it light even when working at heights or in hard-to-reach places.
Installation requires maintaining a minimum distance between the axis of the fitting and the wall - Geberit catalog data specifies these dimensions for each size separately. When planning the pipeline route, it is worth considering the clearance needed to operate the pressing jaws.
