Professional connection of pipes with a steel external thread

The Geberit Mapress Edelstahl transition coupling enables a leak-proof connection between a system pipe with an outer diameter of 35 mm and a threaded element R 1". The design utilizes the M jaw connection profile, which means compatibility with widely used jaws in the Mapress system.

Material and corrosion resistance

The coupling body is made of CrNiMo 1.4401 stainless steel (equivalent to AISI 316) in accordance with the DIN EN 10088 standard. This steel grade contains a molybdenum addition, which significantly increases resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion - essential in water supply and industrial installations. The wall thickness at the press-fit connection is 1,5 mm, ensuring high mechanical strength of the entire component.

The seal made of CIIR (chlorobutadiene rubber) is resistant to hot water, mineral oils, and many chemical substances encountered in heating and sanitary installations.

Applications and system compatibility

The coupling is used in three main areas:

• Water supply installations - the transmission of drinking water requires organoleptically neutral materials that are resistant to the conditions in distribution networks.
• Heating installations - operation at elevated temperatures of heat carriers is not a problem for 316 steel or the CIIR seal.
• Industrial and marine applications - where the durability of connections in difficult operating conditions is critical.

The BSPT-R type external thread (tapered gas thread according to ISO 7-1 / EN 10226-1) allows for the connection of fittings, valves, or other elements with an inch-sized internal thread.

Installation and principle of operation

The press-fit connection remains unsealed until pressing is performed. The press indicator signals the correct positioning of the coupling before performing the operation. A transparent protective cap covering the pressing sleeve protects the seal groove from contamination during transport and storage.

The total length is 51 mm, with the length of the pipe connection part being 26 mm and the external thread length being 25 mm. The nominal connection diameter is DN 32 for the press-fit side and DN 25 for the threaded side - hence the reducing nature of the element.

Before installation, ensure that the pipe is properly cut and shows no signs of corrosion or contamination in the connection zone.
