Geberit Mapress stainless steel transition coupling with male thread: d=35mm, R=1 1/2'' 31720
Professional stainless steel pipeline connection
The Geberit Mapress Edelstahl transition coupling with external thread enables a durable connection between a system pipe and a threaded component - without welding or brazing. The design, based on proven press-fit technology, allows for fast and secure installation in water, heating, and industrial installations.
Design and materials
The coupling body is made of CrNiMo stainless steel 1.4401 (compliant with EN 10088, equivalent to AISI 316). This is an austenitic chromium-nickel-molybdenum alloy - resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion, making it suitable for potable water installations and industrial environments with increased chemical aggressiveness.
The first connection is a press-fit socket with an outer diameter of 35 mm, which corresponds to the nominal size DN 32. The M clamping profile is compatible with Mapress-type jaws - commonly used in professional installation presses. The surface is in a raw state, facilitating any post-installation processing.
The second connection is a tapered BSPT-R gas external thread of size R 1 1/2" - a standard connection used in fittings, filters, pressure reducers, and other installation components. The tapered thread is self-sealing when tightened with the appropriate torque.
The total length is 53 mm, with a socket length of 26 mm and a threaded part length of 27 mm. The construction height is 27 mm. The weight of the component itself is approximately 0.31 kg.
The seal is made of CIIR (chlorobutadiene rubber) - a material resistant to aging, hot water, and certain chemicals. The element is factory-supplied with a transparent protective cap covering the socket against contamination until installation.
Scope of applications
The coupling belongs to the universal Geberit Mapress Edelstahl system, which finds application in a very wide spectrum of installations:
- Potable water - both cold and hot; the system is approved for contact with water intended for human consumption.
- Heating and cooling media - heating and cooling water, including those with a heat transfer medium (glycol).
- District heating - heating pipes with an operating temperature up to 120 °C.
- Saturated steam - up to 120 °C, covering typical steam installations found in industry.
- Compressed air - oil cleanliness class 0-3; suitable for powering pneumatic tools and technological lines.
- Technical gases - inert gases (nitrogen), industrial gases such as acetylene, or shielding gases for welding.
- Process and treated water - industrial installations requiring controlled medium quality.
- Sewage and rainwater - at a pH coefficient > 6.0; includes grey and black domestic sewage as well as rainwater.
- Fire protection systems - wet sprinklers and sprinkler installations.
- Chemicals and technical fluids - media with appropriate chemical compatibility.
The system is dedicated to both domestic and commercial installations (HVAC / building services), as well as industrial facilities and shipbuilding.
Operational properties and safety features
Geberit Mapress press-fit technology eliminates the need for welding or brazing - this reduces the risk of fire during installation and shortens installation times. The connection remains leak-proof only after correct pressing; until pressing is performed, the fitting remains unsealed (unverpresst undicht) - this is a deliberate mechanism to ensure correct installation.
An important element is the press indicator - a small element visible on the socket informing of the need to perform the connection. This gives the installer certainty that no part of the installation has been omitted.
1.4401 stainless steel provides high mechanical strength and corrosion resistance across a wide range of operating conditions. The material retains its properties in temperatures from negative (cooling) to +120 °C with a standard water medium.
The socket with a wall thickness of 1.5 mm at an outer diameter of 35 mm provides an adequate safety margin for typical operating pressures occurring in domestic and industrial installations.
