Mapress press system - permanent steel connection

The Geberit Mapress Edelstahl transition coupling with external thread is a component of the press system used to create durable, permanent connections between steel pipes and BSPT threaded fittings. Simple construction, fitting with a total length of 83 mm - one side is a press coupling for a pipe with an outer diameter of 54 mm (DN 50), the other is a tapered external thread R 1 1/2" (DN 40). The length of the coupling socket is 35 mm, and the length of the threaded part is 48 mm, providing adequate support surface both during pressing and when tightening on the thread.

The coupling is equipped with a transparent protective cap, which protects the interior of the fitting from contamination during transport and storage - it only needs to be removed immediately before installation. The crimp indicator is visible as a mark on the body - until the connection is pressed with the pressing jaws, it remains unsealed, eliminating the risk of accidentally commissioning the installation without a completed connection.

Material and corrosion resistance

The body is made of CrNiMo 1.4401 stainless steel (equivalent to AISI 316), a grade widely used in industrial and marine installations. The molybdenum content improves resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion - important in areas of limited flow or at connections with elastomer seals. The wall thickness of the coupling socket is 1,5 mm, which, combined with the Mapress Edelstahl system pipe, creates a connection with high tensile strength - meeting the requirements of pressure installations.

The seal is made of CIIR (chlorobutadiene rubber) in black - a material resistant to aging under the influence of temperature and contact with hot water or sewage.

Scope of application

This fitting is one of the most versatile elements of the Mapress Edelstahl system in terms of the working medium:

• Water - cold and hot, cooling and heating water (including with antifreeze), district heating water up to 120°C, saturated steam up to 120°C, production and process water, treated and rainwater (at pH ≥ 6,0).
• Sewage - grey and black at pH ≥ 6,0.
• Air and gases - compressed air (oil cleanliness class 0-3), vacuum, inert gases (nitrogen), industrial gases such as acetylene or shielding gases for welding.
• Fire protection systems - wet sprinklers.
• Chemicals and technical fluids.

Designed for domestic, industrial, and marine installations - where stainless steel with high chemical and mechanical resistance is required.

Installation and system compatibility

Connecting the press coupling requires clamping jaws with an M profile compatible with the Geberit Mapress Edelstahl system. The BSPT-R tapered thread complies with ISO 7-1 / EN 10226-1 standards, meaning compatibility with threaded fittings from other manufacturers operating on the same standards. The surfaces of both connections remain in a raw state - without additional anti-corrosion treatment, which is a standard solution for stainless steel in closed installations.

The Geberit Mapress system enables rapid installation without welding or threading on the construction site - this reduces the number of welding operations and eliminates the risk of execution errors compared to traditionally made threaded connections.
