Protection of circuits with motors and devices with high inrush currents

The 10x38 mm cylindrical fuse link is a key component in industrial installations where short-circuit protection is required alongside resistance to short-term current surges. This model, designated with category aM (partial equipment protection), is specifically designed to protect circuits supplying electric motors. Thanks to its tripping characteristic, the fuse does not blow under typical motor inrush currents, which can exceed the rated value multiple times, and reacts instantaneously only in the event of a genuine short circuit. This solution eliminates false alarms and machine downtime.

Ceramic construction and high breaking capacity

The main structural element is a ceramic body, ensuring high thermal and mechanical resistance in harsh environmental conditions. Inside, an arc-quenching material (quartz sand) extinguishes the electric arc within a fraction of a second. A key parameter for installation safety is the short-circuit breaking capacity of up to 120 kA. This means that even under very high short-circuit currents occurring in modern distribution networks, the fuse safely interrupts the circuit without risk of explosion or damage to adjacent components.

Operation at a rated voltage of 500 V AC and frequency of 50-60 Hz makes it a universal component in most European industrial installations. Note that at a rated current of 2 A, power losses are minimal, amounting to only 0.18 W. Such low heat dissipation allows mounting multiple such elements in compact switchgear spaces without the need for additional cooling or concerns about overheating neighboring modules.

Application and compliance with standards

The product is ideally suited for control cabinets of production machines, pumps, fans, and other drive devices. Its application is limited to short-circuit protection – it does not protect against long-term overloads (for this purpose, gG type fuse links are used). Mounting is performed standardly in 10x38 mm fuse holders.

The fuse complies with rigorous international standards, including IEC 60269, guaranteeing its reliability and compatibility with energy distribution systems. Additionally, the product complies with RoHS and REACH directives, is halogen-free, and facilitates disposal in accordance with environmental requirements applicable in the European Union. For the installer, this ensures installation compliant with HSE regulations and eliminates the need for additional environmental documentation for the component itself.
