Power Circuit and Device Protection
The 10x38 mm cylindrical fuse link is a standard solution used in industrial switchgear and domestic installations for protection against overloads and short circuits. The model with a rated current of 20 A is designed for mounting in CH-10 series fuse disconnectors. Thanks to its gG operating characteristic (full-range protection), this element effectively protects both cables and connected devices from damage caused by excessive current. It is a universal fuse type that responds to both prolonged overloads and instantaneous short circuits, making it a fundamental component in many distribution circuits.
Ceramic Construction and High Breaking Capacity
A key feature of this model is its ceramic body, which ensures resistance to the high temperatures generated during operation. Inside, it contains a sand filler that extinguishes the electric arc formed during a short circuit. This gives the fuse link an impressive short-circuit breaking capacity of 120 kA. This means that even in the event of a very severe short circuit in the installation, the fuse will safely interrupt the circuit without the risk of explosion or damage to adjacent switchgear components. During continuous operation at the rated current (20 A), the device generates power losses of approximately 2 W, which is a low value and does not cause excessive overheating of the enclosure under standard load conditions.
Mounting and Trip Indicators
During replacement or inspection of the installation status, it is important to quickly identify whether the protection has operated. This model features a trip indicator located on the front part of the body (the so-called "piston"). After the fuse link blows, this indicator pops out or changes position, which is visible through the inspection window in the fuse disconnector. This facilitates quick diagnosis by the installer without the need to disassemble the entire element from the socket. These fuses operate in alternating current (AC) networks with a rated voltage up to 500 V (commonly used in 400 V systems) and a frequency of 50–60 Hz.
It is worth noting that these fuse links are typically sold in bulk packaging (e.g., packs of 10 pieces), which facilitates their storage and replacement during larger installation maintenance. Their universal size makes them compatible with most standard fuse disconnectors available on the European market.
