Compensating cables – precision temperature measurements
The AP 4 Ln-SIL 2x1.5 compensating cable is a reliable solution used in temperature regulation and measurement systems. It serves as an extension of the thermocouple to the measuring device, ensuring accurate readings. The cable's construction minimizes errors resulting from temperature differences between the sensor and the measuring device.
Construction and characteristic features
The cable is made of high-quality materials, guaranteeing its durability and resistance to environmental conditions. The conductors are made of a special material (stranded or solid wire) and insulated according to order, available in various materials: PVC, silicone, Teflon or fiberglass. The conductor marking is single-color, and pairs of conductors – from 3 conductors upwards – are additionally marked with printed numbers for easy identification. A braided screen made of tinned steel wires (SY type) or copper (CY type) provides protection against electromagnetic interference.
It is worth noting the availability of different insulation materials – choosing the right one allows you to adapt the cable to specific working conditions and required temperature. The test voltage for cables with PVC, fluoropolymer and silicone insulation is 500 V (conductor/conductor, conductor/screen, screen/screen), and for cables with fiberglass insulation – also 500 V (conductor/conductor). Insulation resistance for PVC, silicone and fluoropolymer is at least 10 MOhm x km.
Applications and benefits
The AP 4 Ln-SIL 2x1.5 compensating cable finds application wherever precise temperature measurements are required:
- Regulation and measurement technology: ideal for industrial process control systems.
- Food industry: monitoring temperature in production and storage processes.
- Laboratories: accurate measurements in scientific research.
- Energy industry: temperature control of electrical devices and installations.
Thanks to the use of appropriate conductive materials (Fe/Cu-Ni, Ni/Cr-Ni or Pt-Rh/Pt), the compensating cable ensures minimization of measurement errors resulting from temperature differences between the sensor and the measuring device. The use of compensating cables allows for a faithful reproduction of the thermoelectric signal generated by the thermocouple, which is crucial for obtaining reliable data.
