Compensating cable – precision in temperature measurements
The AF 9 L 2x1.5 compensating cable is a specialized cable designed for precise temperature measurements in control and measurement technology. Its construction provides a thermoelectric extension function of the thermocouple, minimizing errors resulting from temperature differences at connections. This guarantees reliable readings even in demanding industrial conditions.
Construction and properties
The cable consists of two conductors (+ and -) made of special materials – Fe/Cu-Ni, Ni/Cr-Ni or Pt-Rh/Pt – insulated with a material selected by the customer: PVC, silicone, Teflon or fiberglass. The conductor marking is single-colored, and pairs of conductors (from 3 conductors) are additionally marked with printed numbers for easy identification. A braided screen made of tinned steel wires (type SY) or copper (type CY) provides protection against electromagnetic interference. The resistance of the conductors has been determined in accordance with DIN 43713: Fe: 0.080 Ω/m, CuNi: 0.327 Ω/m, NiCr: 0.07 Ω/m, Ni: 0.3 Ω/m, PtRh: 0.023 Ω/m and Pt: 0.041 Ω/m. The test voltage for cables with PVC, fluoropolymer and silicone insulation is conductor/conductor and conductor/screen - 500 V; screen/screen - 500 V. For cables with fiberglass insulation, the test voltage conductor/conductor is also 500 V. The insulation resistance for PVC, silicone and fluoropolymer is at least 10 MΩ x km.
