PROFINET cable for industrial automation systems

This green PROFINET A cable 2x2x0.64 mm² is a reliable solution for building industrial networks based on the PROFINET standard. Designed for stationary installations inside buildings, it provides excellent data transmission in demanding industrial conditions. This cable is suitable for PROFInet Type A networks and is characterized by high resistance to interference.

Construction and parameters

The cable is constructed of copper conductors with a diameter of AWG 22/1, insulated with polyethylene (PE). Four conductors are twisted into a star quad, which minimizes interference. Additionally, the cable has double shielding – an aluminum foil coated with plastic and a braid of tinned copper wires, providing effective protection against electromagnetic interference. The outer jacket made of green PVC (similar to RAL 6018) ensures durability and resistance to mechanical damage. The outer diameter of the cable is approximately 6.5 mm.

Key electrical parameters include an impedance of 100 Ohm ± 15 Ohm (in the range of 1-100 MHz), a conductor resistance of a maximum of 57.5 Ohm/km, and an insulation resistance of at least 5 GOhm x km. The test voltage is 2 kV. The mutual capacitance of the cable is 48 nF/km.

This cable is used in industrial automation systems where reliable and fast data transmission is required. It is ideal for connections between PLCs and devices in machines (sensors, drives, etc.). It meets the requirements of the PROFInet Guideline and IEC 61158-2, ISO/IEC 11801 and EN 50173 (Category 5e) standards. It also has a certificate of resistance to vertical flame propagation according to IEC 60332-3. The fire reaction class is Eca. The operating temperature range is from -40°C to +80°C.
