Magnesium chain anode 5/4" 1590 - OKC200/250 (from 2018), OKC300/400/500 83.30.36

Protective function and principle of operation

The magnesium anode is a key element protecting enameled water heaters from the harmful effects of electrochemical corrosion. In combination with the enamel layer, it creates comprehensive protection against the aggressive impact of domestic water on the metal structure of the tank.

In an aqueous environment, where various installation materials such as steel, copper, or brass create corrosive micro-cells, the magnesium anode functions as a "sacrificial" metallic element. The potential difference between metals is neutralized by the controlled consumption of the magnesium anode, which thereby protects the more expensive structural components of the heater.

The chain construction of this anode was specifically developed for installation situations with limited space, where standard rod solutions cannot be applied. This innovative form allows for maintaining full protective functionality even in difficult installation conditions.

Technical construction and compatibility

The chain magnesium anode with a length of 1590 mm is equipped with a G 5/4" thread, ensuring universal compatibility with a wide range of heating devices. The product was designed specifically for HEWALEX and DZ DRAZICE storage tanks from the OKC200/250 series produced since 2018, as well as larger OKC300/400/500 models.

This specific thread and length configuration enables seamless installation in the factory-prepared mounting holes of the heaters, eliminating the need for additional structural modifications to the device.

Maintenance and operational replacement

This element is subject to natural wear during the operation process; therefore, regular inspection of its technical condition is a fundamental responsibility of the user. It is recommended to inspect the anode at least once a year, with the maximum period between inspections not exceeding two years.

The replacement criterion is wear exceeding 2/3 of the initial volume of the anode or the observation of degradation greater than half of the original size—depending on the manufacturer's source of information. The rate of consumption is directly correlated with the hardness of the domestic water and the intensity of the heating device's operation.

Regular and documented replacement of the anode may be a condition for maintaining the water heater manufacturer's warranty, making this procedure not only a recommended maintenance practice but also a legal and warranty requirement.
