Low-capacitance transmission cable for industrial applications
UNITRONIC® Li2YCYv (TP) series cables are ideal wherever reliable signal transmission is required in an electromagnetically disturbed environment. The construction based on twisted pair conductors with polyethylene (PE) insulation allows data transmission at speeds up to 10 Mbit/s, making this cable an appropriate choice for RS422 and RS485 interfaces - standards widely used in industrial automation, measurement systems and communication networks.
Construction and Materials
The cable is made of 7-strand copper conductors with a cross-section of 0.34 mm², providing good flexibility while maintaining sufficient mechanical strength. The conductor insulation made of polyethylene (PE) features low electrical capacitance - maximum 60 nF/km at 800 Hz - which minimizes signal attenuation on longer transmission routes. Twisting the conductors into pairs with a short lay length effectively reduces crosstalk between adjacent circuits; near-end crosstalk attenuation is minimum 50 dB up to 1 MHz and 40 dB up to 10 MHz.
Shielding consists of a braided shield of tinned copper wires, which provides a high degree of coverage and effective protection against electromagnetic interference. The outer sheath is made of PVC in black color (RAL 9005) with increased wall thickness - the designation "Yv" in the cable type indicates a reinforced outer sheath construction. This feature is crucial for outdoor installations and the possibility of direct burial of the cable in the ground.
Performance Characteristics
The operating temperature range is from -40°C to +80°C for fixed installations and from -5°C to +70°C for occasional movement. The minimum bending radius is respectively 6 times the outer diameter for fixed connections and 15 times for moving applications - with an outer diameter of 9.3 mm, this gives approximately 55.8 mm and 139.5 mm respectively.
The cable is resistant to UV radiation and weather conditions, making it suitable for outdoor installations without additional protection. It can operate in dry, humid and wet environments. It is worth noting the PWIS-free certification according to VDMA 24364-B2-L - the cable does not contain substances that could interfere with painting processes in the automotive industry.
The test voltage is 2000 V between conductors and 1000 V between conductor and shield. The characteristic impedance of 100 ±15 Ω (>1 MHz) ensures proper matching for RS422/RS485 standards.
Standards and Certifications
The product meets the requirements of the IEC 60332-1-2 flammability standard - it is self-extinguishing. It bears the CE marking, UKCA certificate and EAC approval (number ЕАЭС N RU Д-DE.АЮ64.В.00130/20). ETIM classification: EC000104 - control cable.
Conductor identification according to DIN 47100 facilitates installation and maintenance of the system thanks to unambiguous conductor color coding.
