Application and functionality

The SKINDICHT® SM-PE PG 9 securing nut is a key component of cable gland mounting systems in electrical enclosures. It is particularly effective for thin-walled unthreaded enclosures, where it allows for only one through-hole while simultaneously ensuring optimal grounding by piercing the insulating layer during tightening.

It works perfectly with SKINTOP® MS-SC and SKINTOP® BRUSH grounding glands, guaranteeing electromagnetic shielding continuity in applications requiring interference protection.

Construction and materials

The nut body is made of nickel-plated brass (CuZn), providing excellent corrosion resistance and high electrical conductivity necessary for effective grounding. The hexagonal shape with a 20.8 mm width across flats allows for secure fastening with an 18 mm tool.

Surface nickel plating protects the brass from oxidation, maintaining electrical properties throughout its service life. The design meets halogen-free requirements, making it safe for the environment and health in the event of a fire.

Operating properties

The nut operates in a wide temperature range from -60°C to +200°C, maintaining mechanical and electrical stability in extreme environmental conditions. The material exhibits high impact resistance, UV resistance, and resistance to industrial oils.

The PG 9 thread with a 1.41 mm pitch ensures precise fit to standard through-holes, and specially shaped edges automatically pierce lacquered, anodized, or powder-coated coatings on enclosures during tightening, guaranteeing optimal grounding contact without additional preparatory steps.

Thanks to these properties, the nut is suitable for both industrial applications requiring high electrical connection reliability and installations where ease of assembly while maintaining EMC parameters is a priority.
