Inrush current limiter 28A DIN ICL-28R
Inrush current limiter – protection and reliability of the installation
The ICL-28R inrush current limiter is a modular element designed for mounting on a DIN rail, designed to reduce high inrush currents occurring with capacitive or inductive loads. Its task is to prevent false tripping of automatic circuit breakers, which translates to more stable and safer operation of the electrical installation. This device is used wherever it is necessary to limit the surge current when starting devices.
Construction and application
ICL-28R is particularly useful in power supply systems where devices with high power consumption at start-up are connected, such as impulse power supplies, transformers or motors. DIN rail mounting simplifies integration with existing electrical infrastructure. The construction based on a relay, not just NTC elements, ensures greater durability and reliability. The device allows you to connect several power supplies to one AC line simultaneously without the risk of overload.
Key features and benefits
- Limitation of inrush currents: Rated continuous current at 28A allows for effective protection against overloads.
- Versatility: Designed to work with an input voltage of 180-264VAC, making it compatible with most standard installations.
- Safety: Has internal temperature protection, protecting against overheating and damage.
- Mounting: Quick and easy mounting on a DIN rail (TS35/7.5 or TS35/15) minimizes downtime during installation or system modernization.
- Durability: The use of a relay in the construction ensures a longer service life compared to solutions based solely on NTC elements.
- Application with various loads: Possibility of handling capacitive loads up to 2500uF/6000uF (depending on the power supply model).
- Internal protections: Protects against the effects of short circuits and overloads, ensuring continuous system operation.
Remember to maintain adequate ventilation gaps during installation (5 mm on the sides, 40 mm above and 20 mm below) to ensure optimal device cooling. Use copper wires with a cross-section adapted to the rated current of the device (according to the table in the installation manual) and resistant to a temperature of at least 80°C (e.g. UL1007). The recommended torque for the terminals is 5.1 kgf-cm (4.43 Lb-in).
