MSCL16 Screw Connector for 12kV

The MSCL16 screw connector is an electrical installation component designed for connecting aluminum and copper conductors in applications with voltages up to 12 kV. It utilizes shear bolt technology during the cable terminal installation process.

Shear Bolt Technology - Simplicity and Reliability

A key feature of the product is the M6 aluminum bolts, which are designed to shear off at the optimal torque. This precisely controlled characteristic guarantees the best possible electrical connection without the need for specialized crimping tools. Installation is performed using a standard socket or open-end wrench, significantly simplifying the installer's work.

The bolts are coated with a special anti-oxidant grease, which ensures proper lubrication during assembly and eliminates the risk of oxidation at electrical contact points.

Materials and Construction Ensuring Durability

The connector body is made of a high-strength aluminum alloy, which subsequently undergoes a tinning process. This 10 μm thick surface ensures excellent compatibility with both aluminum and copper conductors, eliminating the problem of galvanic corrosion between different metals.

The design incorporates waterproofing as a standard feature, making the product suitable for both indoor and outdoor installation thanks to its sealed construction.

Universal Conductor Compatibility

The product supports a wide range of conductor cross-sections from 1,5 to 16 mm² in the following configurations:

• Solid round conductors (RE) - aluminum and copper
• Stranded round conductors (RM) - aluminum and copper
• Solid sector conductors (SE) - aluminum
• Stranded sector conductors (SM) - aluminum and copper

This versatility allows for the use of a single type of connector for different types of conductors within a single project.

Compact Design for 12kV Applications

Despite its advanced technical properties, the connector is characterized by compact dimensions: total length 30 mm, outer diameter 12 mm, working part length 14 mm, and inner diameter 6 mm. Such a design requires minimal installation space, which is particularly important for larger conductor cross-sections and in switchgear with limited space.

The product has been tested and certified according to the IEC 61238-1 class A standard, confirming its high quality and reliability in demanding operating conditions. Class A means that the connectors are intended for electrical and industrial installations where high-intensity and long-duration short circuits may occur.

The EN 61238-1:2003 standard classifies products based on resistance to thermal cycles and short-circuit tests - class A represents the highest safety standard for distribution applications.
