Industrial Ethernet Switch – Reliability and Economy in One
EDS-208 is an industrial Ethernet switch designed for demanding environments. The device combines compact size, a wide temperature range, and an attractive price, making it an ideal solution for building Ethernet networks in industrial and other conditions. It will work well both in production halls and inside devices, where standard solutions fail due to extreme temperatures.
Functionality and Performance
The switch is equipped with 8 10/100BaseT(X) Ethernet ports, supporting IEEE 802.3/802.3u/802.3x standards with auto-detection of speed (10/100M) and operating mode (Full/Half-duplex, MDI/MDIX). The Store and Forward mechanism ensures the analysis of the correctness of transmitted packets, guaranteeing error-free data transmission and increasing network efficiency. Versions with a fiber optic port (EDS-208-M-SC or EDS-208-M-ST) are also available, expanding network capabilities.
Processing is done in Store and Forward mode, and the MAC table size is 2K. The packet buffer has a capacity of 768 kbit.
Mounting and Power Supply – Simplicity and Flexibility
The switch is mounted on a standard DIN rail, making it easy to integrate with existing industrial infrastructure. The device can be powered by a DC voltage in the range of 12 to 48 VDC, providing flexibility in choosing a power source. Additionally, the plastic housing (IP30) is resistant to shocks and vibrations, and the lack of moving parts translates into high reliability and long device life. Protection against reverse polarity and overload (up to 2.5A at 24VDC) further protects the device and installation.
Durability and Reliability in Harsh Conditions
Designed to operate in a wide temperature range (from -10 to +60°C), the EDS-208 is resistant to extreme environmental conditions. It meets UL 508 safety standards and EMC standards (EN 55032/24, CISPR 32, FCC Part 15B Class A). It has also passed tests for shock resistance, free fall, and vibration (IEC 60068-2-27, IEC 60068-2-31, IEC 60068-2-6). The mean time between failures (MTBF) is as high as 401624 hours – this is a guarantee of stable operation for a long time.
