PVC-C Pipes – Durable and Versatile Solution for Water Installations
FlowGuard PVC-C pipes, manufactured by NIBCO, are technologically advanced installation elements designed for hot and cold water distribution systems, as well as in air conditioning and industrial installations. They are characterized by high chemical and mechanical resistance, guaranteeing long-lasting and trouble-free operation. This system is distinguished by its ease of installation and a wide range of applications.
Features and Advantages of PVC-C Pipes
FlowGuard pipes are available in beige (up to 2 inches) and gray (above 2 inches), which facilitates identification of the intended use. In diameters up to 2 inches, they are produced in a dimensional system compatible with copper pipe standards – CTS (Copper Tube Size), while larger diameters correspond to steel pipe dimensions (IPS). Connecting the elements is done using aggressive adhesives, providing tight and durable connections with a completion time of less than a minute, depending on the ambient temperature. Additionally, the system includes threaded and flanged elements allowing integration with various types of installations.
- Exceptional durability: PVC-C material ensures a service life of the installation estimated at a minimum of 50 years.
- Corrosion and deposit resistance: Pipes do not corrode and do not promote the deposition of scale or contaminants, maintaining high flow rate for a long time.
- Wide chemical resistance: Ability to transport various chemical compounds, making them ideal for industrial applications.
- Safety for health: The material is physiologically and microbiologically inert, guaranteeing no impact on water quality.
- Easy installation: Quick and safe installation without the need for specialized tools or energy sources.
- Damping properties: Reduction of vibrations and noise in the installation.
- Lightweight: Several times lighter than traditional materials (metal), making transport and installation easier.
- Smooth inner surface: Reducing flow resistance, enabling the reduction of pipeline diameters.
- High thermal insulation: Reducing heat loss and the risk of condensation on cold water pipes.
- Fire resistance: Does not support the combustion process, increasing fire safety.
- Electrical insulation: No galvanic or electrochemical corrosion, particularly important in underground installations.
- Aesthetics: Rigidity of the pipes ensures an aesthetic appearance of the installation.
Application and Compatibility
PVC-C pipes are used in:
- Hot and cold water installations in residential and commercial buildings.
- Air conditioning installations.
- Industrial installations for the transport of various chemical compounds.
The system is compatible with other installation elements thanks to the availability of threaded and flanged elements allowing connection with any installation system. Remember to use appropriate aggressive adhesives dedicated to PVC-C and the possibility of using transition fittings when connecting to PVC-U systems (especially in diameters up to 2 inches).
| Nominal diameter | Dimensional system | Application |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 2" | CTS (SDR11) | Hot/cold water - copper replacement |
| Above 2" | IPS (Sch 40/80) | Hot/cold water, industrial installations |
NIBCO PVC-C pipes comply with ASTM D-1785 (PVC-U) and PN-EN 1452-2 (PVC-U) standards, and also have PZH hygienic certificates and a technical approval from COBR TI “INSTAL”, which confirms their high quality and safety of use.
